Great location after touring city all day. Removed from main hub bub of state and Michigan, but convenient from the river walk. Came in for an early dinner for 7ppl, 4 adults and 3 kids. Ricky provided impeccable timing, recommnations and service and the food was outstanding. Started with Tuna crudo, shrimp cocktail and pop overs. Highly recommend Kansas City Strip and whipped mash, mushrooms and broccoli sides. They have a decent kids menu to boot! We were (by choice) dining outside and had the patio to ourselves. It was noisy but the kids and our out of town guests really liked the ambience of being on wacker and watching the Halloween parade. It was a perfect chicago dinner, perfect chicago night. The inside ambience looked really nice as well, but more reserved and quiet.

Kid-friendliness: Kids menu/family friendly. Your children should still be prepared to be well behaved, as it is a high end steak house.

The places looks nice inside but doesn’t have on menu options but seafood as what they’re known for. The food is kind of overpriced here but the service was there.

Prime & Provisions is the kind of upscale steakhouse where you expect excellence but I want to focus entirely on the food, specifically the Tomahawk Lamb Chops, which were nothing short of an exquisite culinary journey. From the moment the dish was set down, I could tell it was going to be something special and the real magic began with the first bite.

The lamb was astonishingly tender, cooked to absolute perfection. Each cut of the meat was juicy, releasing flavors that were deeply rich yet balanced. The tenderness was so remarkable that the meat seemed to glide effortlessly off the bone, requiring barely any effort with the knife. Yet, it wasn’t just the texture it was the flavor that truly transported me. The lamb jus provided a deep, velvety richness that bathed the meat in a robust, savory essence, amplifying the natural flavors of the lamb itself. Every bite was a journey, starting with the rich, earthy undertones and finishing with a delicate, almost sweet aftertaste, thanks to the roasted garlic.

What truly set the dish apart was the subtle layer of fat running through the lamb. This wasn’t the kind of fat you find yourself cutting away, rather, it was perfectly rendered, adding a luscious richness that heightened the experience of each bite. The roasted garlic was the perfect complement, adding a mellow sweetness that balanced out the savory richness of the lamb and jus. It wasn’t overpowering but rather played a supporting role, enhancing the flavors without overshadowing them.

Then there were the mashed potatoes, a flawless accompaniment to the lamb. They were impossibly creamy and smooth, with just the right amount of buttery richness. The texture was silky, almost cloud-like, and every spoonful felt like it was crafted to complement the lamb’s deep, bold flavors. Together, the lamb and the potatoes created a balance between indulgence and comfort, elevating the entire meal to another level.

In short, the Tomahawk Lamb Chops weren’t just a meal, they were an adventure, a sensory experience that took you on a journey through rich, complex flavors and textures. It’s a dish that stays with you, a reminder of what can happen when culinary artistry and high-quality ingredients come together.

Restaurant Review: Prime & Provisions

I recently celebrated my birthday at Prime & Provisions, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding—each dish was expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. However, what truly elevated our evening was the exceptional service.

A standout figure was Khali, the security host. I was pleasantly surprised to learn he was there for security, as his warm, hospitable demeanor made him feel more like part of the service team. He struck the perfect balance between professionalism and approachability, offering not only a welcoming presence but also valuable recommendations for our stay in Chicago. His suggestion to check out Bandit for our after-party was spot-on, adding to the overall enjoyment of our trip.

Our waiter Juan also deserves special mention. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and helped us navigate our choices with ease. I appreciated his ability to communicate in Spanish, which allowed us to connect on a personal level. It made the experience even more enjoyable, as we bonded over our shared language.

Overall, Prime & Provisions offers not only incredible food but also an exceptional service experience that made my birthday truly memorable. I can’t wait to return!

My waitress, Michelle, was fabulous!!! The host and busser were so eager to assist. Everyone that worked in this establishment had great energy on this beautiful Wednesday. I'll definitely be back to try more menu items that were highly suggested. This was a great first experience.

I usually, for the most part, enjoy my time here. Last night my experience was atrocious. Start to finish. When my guest and I walked in, security at the host stand condescendingly asked if we had a reservation — once confirmed, said he’d call a host to get us to our table. A host came, and then took a couple that arrived after us (but same reservation time) and sat them at our table. The security watched and didn’t stop her and when she came back said she’s “just mixed us up” and they laughed. They then took us to the back of the restaurant — my reservation was specifically for the bar area as I was hoping to enjoy the last night special. Instead of recognizing the hosts mistake, the waiter actually made us get up again and walk all the way to the front of restaurant to order that meal. Insane; and highly embarrassing. Because we ordered the last night special — the waiter rarely came to check on us, likely believing us to be cheapskates and not worth her time. Toward the end of our meal and first round of Old Fashions, I asked for another round of— she walked away from the table to put in the order, then made a point to come back and said quite loudly and condescendingly — “just so you all know when you order another round it’s at full price!” ?????? Again, INSANE — and so ridiculously embarrassing. When we went to order our final round — a glass of Boudreaux — she almost seemed afraid to fulfill the order. Did she think we wouldn’t be able to satisfy the bill? When I finally just requested the bill as I really couldn’t be there another minute; she seemed surprised when she came to collect my credit card — a premium visa signature card issued by BofA — and even did a surprised “oh”. We felt judged and utterly embarrassed start to finish. Unlike anything i’ve ever experienced, at any restaurant but certainly any time i’ve visited P&P.

I went here for a business dinner and it was exceptional. The flaming bacon was a great start and the ice cream sundae bar was a great end. Steaks were cooked exactly to order and very tender.

It was a little loud for a business dinner, and slightly wanting for space. But the steak was excellent and the sides very well done.

What a fantastic evening! It would not have been nearly as memorable without our FANTASTIC waiter, Drew. The entire staff made our family feel like their family. The food was described as world class and delivered on all accounts. I left a few special notes regarding our visit and the staff made every effort to ensure those notes were accommodated!! I could go on and on but you truly need to experience this establishment to feel what I felt. Thank you for a fantastic evening!
