Went to pticek’s bakery yesterday. I ended up buying some Chicago Bears cookies. They had a few different designs and they were amazing, and so was this bakery. The women in there were so friendly, and to be honest with you I could’ve bought everything. They had sweet rolls, layer cakes, coffee, cakes, breads, and more. I also bought one of their cheese danishes for myself, probably the best danish I’ve ever had. The cream cheese in that danish was outstanding!
My only regret I didn’t buy more. I don’t live in the area near this bakery, but I’m going to make a point to get out there more!

Omgosh! I was so happy find that they make Potica (Slovenian Coffee Cake)! It tastes almost like my mom’s. My whole family loves it!!!!

I wish I had taken pictures in this amazing old school bakery that has been in business since 1959. The staff was so incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. We purchased old-fashioned butter cookies with sprinkles that were so light they felt like they were gonna float away. We shared a small cherry tart that melted in your mouth. We also purchased a loaf of egg bread with raisins in it that toast up so perfectly. My only mistake was not buying more things. If you were on your way to Midway airport – this is a great place to stop. It is a true hidden gem sandwich in the neighborhood about 10 minutes from Midway. We cannot wait to go back and I wish I had taken pictures as everything looked fantastic.

This is a family-owned Croatian bakery that has been around since 1943, serving the Garfield Ridge neighborhood in Chicago.
If you want a good selection of pastries, get there early; otherwise, you'll have very slim pickings toward the end of the day.
They have some of the very best tasty Bohemian kolackys, donuts, apple strudels, and many more delicious pastries.
I especially like the apple strudel with cheese inside and the sour cream cheesecakes.
I personally think that you can't go wrong with anything here.
I just wish they had everything labeled with the name of the pastry and the price so you wouldn't have to consistently ask the employees.
If you're looking for a birthday cake or a cake for any other special occasion, they've got you covered.
By the way, the employees are very friendly and familiar with their pastries.

Nicest bunch of women youll ever meet. Friendly and heplful. I love their pastries and my wife's favorite is the sticky buns. Most of the time i just go for the sticky buns but they have amazing cheesecake and other pastries.
