had a 20 dollar bill throwing it at the bartender and he skipped me 4 times. did not buy any drinks beforehand, was trying to get my first drink. i don’t understand , he even locked eyes with me. it looked super nice inside but getting a drink was harder than threading a needle while blasted, don’t recommend due to poor service. went here on a friday at 930pm to 1010pm

i thought i was in hell. no juke box, no lyrics, literally forced to listen to headphones.

lgbtq+ safe and friendly. music selection suspect and will ruin the night of anyone who is remotely sane

We went on a Saturday night around 930pm. Not many people in there yet but the crowd that was there was diverse. Different ages and walks of life. Bar tender was friendly enough and took care of business. Poured a stiff drink for a fair price. It is a legit authentic "dive bar" for starters. The real deal. No frills. Not some wanna be staged pretend dive bar with over priced drinks and pretention. It is old, dark and dirty. We wanted to love this place. We loved everything about it except for one thing...And it is a deal breaker for us. Um. The smell. It smells horrible!!! Like an old stale ashtray with a half put out cigarette still going in it and up in your face. It was really really bad. I don't know if someone was actually smoking in there while we were there, but there is definitely still smoking happening inside that place. It burned my eyes and my nostrils. Gave me a headache. Unfortunately, we were one and done (and had a pretty good buzz from our one drink I must say). But sorry, we can't do the cigarette smoke.

I used to live around the corner from this place nearly 30 years ago and it hasn't lost it's charm. Some how it has remained an authentic drink hole for the arty, music types. Don't expect 5 star service or there's no food, but you will get a bit of history from this place.

Vintage interior and laid back dive vibe. Tamale man came around at midnight - we bought cheese tamales and they were PHENOMENAL. Would go back just for tamales.
No food but have chips if you ask. One of the best bars in Chicago. Top ten on my list. Mostly artist and locals. And the occasional person looking for a bezt dive bar. Great place to meet friends and make friends. The bar staff has always been my favorite.
