I don't remember the last critical review I've written but this was egregious IMO so here it is. We stopped in on a Sunday evening a few weeks ago. Not at all crowded. Ordered 2-G&T's, 2-Vodka Sodas. I watched the young girl behind the bar pour what was not even 1.5 oz of booz into a plastic cup. I've been around long enough to recognize weak cocktails when I see and drink them. Price? $14 each. After taxes, fees, tip? $68.24. I was born and raised in Chicago area. We've all experienced gouging esp since 2020. This one surprised me more than most which motivated me to alert others. Be aware!

Great neighborhood pub, definitely gets a little crowded on the weekends. Classic Chicago pub that’s close to downtown but doesn’t have downtown prices.

Always have such a lovely time when we come here! It's always after work when we're tired and kinda grubby looking, but the staff is always so kind and accommodating. We've come to know Heather over the last 2 years and now it's like we're old time buds! Always so kind. Def my kind of true Chicago bar! 🍻☺️

River Shannon is a Chicago favorite that I visit anytime I’m in town. Staff is always friendly and go above and beyond in their service. My husband and I went to River Shannon right after we got engaged to celebrate - they made the pub feel like an engagement party full of close friends, even though we didn’t know anyone there. And you can’t beat their pints of Guinness. Being dog friendly is a huge plus!

We are a crotchety lesbian couple in our mid 30s who likes a nice beer and a welcoming environment where we can bring our dog without the overwhelming presence of the Old Town elite. River Shannon has given us that place.
Our favorite bartender, Heather, welcomes every person who walks through the door and always keeps a great balance of conversation and efficiency. Heather is the reason we keep coming back to River Shannon. We watch her recognize, high five, hug, and welcome back regulars on the regular. Heather remembers our dog by name, loves catching up, and keeps tabs on our big life updates. When I was offered a new career opportunity outside of Chicago, I randomly dropped in on a weekday to let her know I’d finally gotten that job I had told her about, and she gave me a big hug. It’s so awesome to create relationships with the people in your community—which can be difficult in Chicago.
They’ve got some snacks and quick pizzas if you’re hungry, and they serve a nice pint of a Guinness. The prices are standard for Lincoln Park. It gets very busy on nights/weekends so we typically stick to happy hour vibes—we love it and feel very at home when we’re here. We are moving soon and we are certainly going to miss this welcoming little dive.
