A solid choice for a nice dinner. As an opera goer we love it's location to the Lyric, and even with multiple choices we have we always gravitate to Rivers because it fits the bill for a great dinner before the show.

Can’t believe I’ve never formally reviewed this place!! I had my wedding reception here 10 years ago and frequent this place annually with my husband. We were just back in August to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Because it’s tucked in the financial district, it can be busy after work/happy hour times but then it can be nice, quiet, and romantic. I love coming here in the summer bc of the patio, and that’s when I got married too. Stunning views of the Chicago River, and very very vey good food! Oh and the best staff :) highly recommend.

Went for dinner before a show at the Lyric Opera (less than 1 block) and WOW!! What find! The food and service were excellent and the portions were BIG, especially for the price. If you are looking for a really nice dinner out in Downtown Chicago, I highly recommend.

Overall, it was a great experience. As others have mentioned, the food arrived very quickly and was quite delicious. It’s an excellent choice for a work lunch, especially during the summer, with the added bonus of a scenic view of the river and the passing boats.
Space cadet server, 25 mins for drinks, menu items not available for main or dessert, not told first, food took a very long time, 2nd round of drinks even longer, main was fine but crème brûlée was half cooked, server called last drinks at 8pm - maybe he needed a sleep. The manager handling the check was rude, toilets grim.

Shockingly small portion sizes, unfortunately. Great ambiance though, just a crazy rip off.
My teammates and I all went here for lunch outing. We were a group of 9 and had made reservations in advance. We ordered all the appetizers on the menu along with our main entrees. I ordered the Strawberry Kale salad with green chicken. I personally felt the salad could have more strawberries rather than blueberries along with more feta cheese. The chicken tasted a bit dry and I did not end up eating all of it. Perhaps next time I will order from the pasta selection. The customer service was great and service was fast. This location has outdoor seating where you can sit with a view of the river.

I can't actually rate the food giving we calked out after sitting for 15 minutes and not even have a the wait staff bring water or a menu. The entire staff seemed more interested in waiting on the drinkers out on the porch than serving food to everyone in the inside restaurant.

Visited along with my colleagues for lunch. We have ordered few appetizers online and when we sit with in 5 minutes it was served. WOW shrimp was awesome.
They took our main course and you know want all of them were served same time. Best time management.
