The best. Love ❤️ the cholesterol 🥚 sauce. Might take a month or two off your life but you only live once.

Came here to celebrate a birthday and it was a disappointing experience. The service was slow and lacked personality. We had to ask several times for extra silverware and chopsticks. The chef didn’t speak a word to our table. Usually hibachi includes at least a bit of a show, there was none of this. The exhaust fans didn’t seem to be working because we walked out with our hair and clothes reeking. The restaurant seemed dingy and my partner and I both had severe stomach issues after eating here.

i've been coming here for over 25 years and the new owners have just run it into the ground. the food is not as good. the chef didn't season our food at all. it was extremely bland and i'm just overall disappointed. this isn't the ROJ that it used to be.
Food was solid with nice portions. Service was not good. We were charged for drinks not delivered. Water was never refilled. Waited almost 10 minutes for eating utensils after food was served. Restaurant was 75% full.
I usually travel out of my way to eat at the Ron of Japan in Northbrook. I didn't have the tile so we ate at the Chicago location. Service was mediocre at beat, the chef was on such a hurry I thought he was gonna flip food onto us. Portion size seemed much smaller than usual and I left hungry which has never happened before. It really was a huge disappointment. The food in general tasted fine but everything else didn't live up to expectations.
I love the lobster with egg sauce, asking for extra egg sauce for rice, oh my word, I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK
The worst place on earth

I'm disappointed. The food was okay, the staff feels appropriately tokenized, and the food isn't authentic - ROJ is from a time when assimilation was in. It's not anymore. Claim japan, and drop the chicken noodle. Be amazing and true and unapologetic. The 80s are over. Rebrand and move forward.

The restaurant could use an interior design update. Screaming kids in an adult restaurant are intolerable. At some point management needs to request parents make their children sit down, stop running wild and use their phones door voice.
Bartenders were absolutely awful

I have been dining at this restaurant for about 15 years and have noticed the food quality has declined. I have ordered several meals such as the Crown Filet and Crown Shrimp and my friend has ordered several Shogun meals. The food is not cooked enough and the quality of the food and quantity of food is not worth the price they charge. Back in the day this restaurant was decent and served great food. Now it’s a shadow of its former self and trying to remain relevant in a very competitive market. Too expensive for the price. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would!
So let’s start by saying me and my mom went here tonight to eat we sat at the table with 2 other women different race! The man comes out makes the rice never gave me my extra egg and extra garlic butter he said he wasn’t informed! Then he gave the ladies at the table so much rice while me and my mom got a half of cup of rice. The lady sitting at the table felt so bad that she offered us her rice. Which of course we did not take because it’s not her fault. Then he proceeds to the kitchen to get the egg after I asked him and took the little rice and mixed it in with that. I asked the waiter for water because mine was all gone he took 30 mins to bring it then when he did he brought it in a Togo cup. He never asked us out flavor ice cream we wanted. I had to stop him and ask if we were going to get our ice cream 30 mins after paying the bill. The already put gratuity in your bill so I guess he felt like he would get paid anyway. When my mom told the manager about our service he said something really fast and walked away! It was horrific I will never be back I spent my hard earned money on a kids meal basically
I’m so disappointed food was alright the cook it was not very uplifting, neither entertaining for it to be hibachi I thought his job is supposed to be more uplifting. It was two other ladies sitting at the table with my daughter and I he filled there bowl of rice up and gave us a half a bowl of rice she felt so bad for she asked did we want to switch bowls with her they didn’t have ginger sauce for your salad the soup was not right ,They didn’t have noodles on the menu. They didn’t have yummy sauce. The server was nice, but he couldn’t remember anything and I guess that was because his tip was already on your ticket. I’m not sure What the manager said to me as he came, and I told him what my concern was, and he said something real fast and walked away, so I definitely won’t be back every time I have been to hibachi you get so much food. I have enough to take home for another day that was a kids meal I felt discriminated against ??
