My wife truely loves this place, she was concerned because it wasn't filled with customers 7pm on a Saturday. It would be a shame to lose this place. Our chef an older gentleman who as super nice asking if everything was good for us. Absolutely no complaints at all.

There are A LOT of mixed reviews...and there will always be different experiences for different days, times, cooks, etc...all I have to say is go to get your experience. Not all what others have to say will be yours...go and get your own. Now mine is I love this place and have gone on several different days for birthdays or just a dinner before or after a movie..and EVERY time for me has always been a great experience with good food. I love this place!!💖

Sub par at best. Way over priced but, I guess that’s a Chicago downtown thing. No theatrics grilling on a flat top had to ask for a blaze just to get a picture for a birthday dinner. Not the same menu presented we seen online. Thought there was an ice cream dessert but, I guess my eyes played tricks through the smoke cloud because ventilation at the table barely worked. Server was pushy and table cook was delayed to the table with a 7:15 seat time. Then we got rushed out the door since they were closing…. Wouldn’t return..

I used to love coming here, I've moved away, and was visiting Chicago and couldn't wait to go to ron of Japan's. I was soooo disappointed. We were rushed through dinner, and the show, which has always been the best part, was terrible, we had to ask for the big flame, the vent above wasn't working, and to top it off they had a big screen tv to watch, we should of been experiencing the whole atmosphere of the dinner like it is to be not watching TV. Use to be a fun and exciting experience to come here. To top it off, there were only 4 of us, and they added a gratitudity 18%, which they didn't mention. Luckily we reviewed the bill before signing.

Greasy spoon joint for Japanese food freshly cooked at your table. No frills - just a diner style restaurant

We enjoyed the freshly cooked food. The several vanished for 45 min after we were served our final entree. It was quite loud with children running around. There were just three at our table: my wife and I and another lady who was on her phone the whole time (not the restaurant's fault), so the ambience was poor. The food was reasonably well prepared and my wife enjoyed her shrimp and scallops. My filet was tender and not overdone, but rather plain. WOW this turned out like a bad review, but we did still enjoyed the experience.

Ron of Japan is decent in terms of quality, but the prices are exorbitant for what you get. Go with family or friends for the experience and be prepared to pay a lot! The hibachi chef was very good and happy to engage with our group, however, our waiter was abrupt, and the overall experience felt rushed.

Amazing time! Our server, Glenn, I believe-was amazing. Dinner was fantastic and our chef was Tony and made the night fun. This is our bday go to for every bday in the family!

Ron of Japan never disappoints. I've been dining here since I was 12 years old and it's always good. The drinks are good, the service is usually on point and the food is excellent even the next day. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

I have been dining at Ron of Japan for 48+ years and it never disappoints. The food is always delicious and the presentation is always excellent. My children now bring my grandchildren to enjoy my favorite resturant.

Delicious mai tai’s, hibachi shrimp with egg sauce, tender filet mignon with egg sauce and fried rice with veggies and egg sauce! Did I mention the egg sauce? Also, we always get on vanilla ice cream and one orange sherbet to mix together into a dreamsicle to share for dessert!

They have a sitting area inside which waiting which was good. The drinks we also good, we got the Mai tai and super duper. I will say it took forever to just get drinks. We were seated pretty quickly and didn't have anything to drink, even the couple who were seated with us go their drink after because they “lost it”. Food was great and the lobster with the yoke sauce is definitely recommend. Will come again and remind them our drinks lol

The food was good as usual they just really cut down on the portions for the price. We have come to both Illinois locations for the last 35yrs only buying Shoguns and never left without many leftovers for the next day 🤷🏻‍♀️ and the Super Mai Tai tasted like ZERO Alcohol!
