This was the worst pizza we've tried to eat. The service was horrible—salads laid on the edge of the table instead of in front of the person who ordered them. Then, the chipotle chicken salad didn't have chicken! It took them three attempts to get that right. The margarita pizzas sucked. The cheese was flavorless. No salt in the sauce. The crust was meh. THEN, they charges us for two chipotle salads when we had one. The other salad was caesar. Horrible experience. Save your money and find a real pizzeria.
Tourist trap. Subpar pizza in downtown Chicago. Bad drinks with minimal service. Disappointing to say the least.
It was WAY TOO LOUD in the rooftop dining area. OK, I understand, there was a basketball game on, but if the TV wasn't so loud with distorted sound, (BTW: you couldn't even understand what was being said), the patrons wouldn't have had to yell to one another, making it even LOUDER. I didn't notice anyone watching the game, but maybe they were? To their defense, I did ask the restaurant to turn down the volume - TWICE - which they did and it helped, but we had a group of 12 & the energetic noise level was impossible for us communicate to anyone, except the person directly in front of us.
Greetings, We enjoyed our meal at Roots per usual. My favorites are the brussel sprouts, the Cobb salad, and bone in wings. We love the ambience and rooftop!
Great location, ambiance, food and service. All the pizza is great. I like that they have some unique flavors.
Second time visiting - large group awards celebration - very loud , other large groups with reservations- service was not the best, and we get it, large crowds not enough servers. The food was just ehhhh, the mozzarella sticks were burnt, the wings were dry, even the pizza tasted off. We were disappointed after having a great visit the first time. We felt it was an off day for the restaurant, we'll try them again - the rooftop is a cool space.
The order tasted very good, disappointed that my requested pie cut wasn't what I requested, so it became a little bit messy
I visited Roots some years ago and they were very good and I can say the same thing for today, however, I wish they did offer their new thin crust pizza to be modified and they don't. But other than that a cool spot to grab some good pizza in the area.
We went 30 mins before closing on a weeknight, so it was almost empty. Our server was excellent and the pizza was great. Sliding glass canopy roof was closed because it was a little chilly but the rooftop feel is still there. Great place.
We just moved into the neighborhood & was excited to try Roots. The cheese sticks were the best. Dorian was our waiter. He was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He suggested the Bbq pizza. It was so good! Our experience could not have been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our waiter Parker has excellent hospitality and we enjoyed him greatly. Food was absolutely delicious and we will definitely be back. I loved those buffalo boneless wings. Probably best I've ever had ! Couldn't get enough of that cheese pizza :)
We were seated on the roof and the string lights were on a random sequence that turned colors and went on and off, which made it very hard to read the menu and was very distracting. The staff said they couldn't control the lights. The food was decent- preferred the regular crust and not tavern style pizza. Waitstaff was short staffed so service was a bit slow but reactive.
These were the best mozzarella sticks we have ever had!!!! 10/10 experience!!!!! Will be back!!!!!
Food was amazing, it wasn't too busy which is exactly what we wanted. Service was great, she was attentive and very friendly. Thank you!
Wasn't expecting such a great salad game from a pizza place, but they did not disappoint. I was looking for salads in the Loop and someone recommended Roots. Great, creative salads, and a giant make-your-own-salad list, too. And I love that they give you the tongs so that you can share (we got 2 salads and each had half of both).
