Roots Handmade Pizza - West Town

Took my wife there for her birthday. She is from Moline, ( Quadcity) The pizza was perfect , memmories, drinks were great, nice layout. SERVICE , cant say no one there. Ordered from the app so everything came at once , not a great thing. Had to go to the bar to get drinks, Oh no bartender . Finally got everything FOOD WAS 10 out of ten.Will never return.Its kinda like a complicated vending machine approch to a restaurant. Not my thing.

Bummed I was turned away at 9:37pm on a Saturday. Told kitchen closes at 9:45, which even if that were the case it's a bummer not to let me get in an order before then. However, I see online it says 10pm and open till midnight...It is very disappointing when you drive somewhere based on their posted hours and are turned away. I had their pizza years ago and liked it but not sure if I'll be back now.

Local restaurant that is great for grabbing a bite to eat. The only disadvantage is that there is no air conditioning. They open front doors for ventilation.

Food is great and the service is great. Salads are pretty filling and they have different styles of pizza. If you ask for it, they’ll give your child some pizza dough to play with.

The low rating is for charging a credit card surcharge. Since when did it become the customer’s responsibility to pay for services that the restaurant has chosen to use?

Also, if you’re going to charge this fee, it shouldn’t be so hard to figure out what the fee is for. I had to go on the internet to verify what this charge was. The restaurant managers should be more upfront about this so that the serving staff doesn’t have to bear the brunt of having to explain a shitty system to the customer.

What makes Roots unique is their crust! Very yummy pizza!

my pizza came with hardly no pizza sauce and I asked and I was told if you want sauce it would be extra. Thats the way it comes To many work staff people at check no smiles no personality no welcome hows your day. Just a plain unhappy faces

Best salad I've had in a long time! Staff was super nice. And the personal deep dish was perfect size and texture.

The pizza is good, the people who work here are great. The price is a little high for what it is, but that's partially just wicker park. Worth it if you're in the area for sure.

We have chowed here so many times and always kill the food before I remember to take photos but finally got it done. This place is amazing. The malt crust on this pizza is spectacular and holds it structure well. Absolutely amazing. They don't shy away from toppings and salad portions are huge. Recommend this place to anyone that loves thin crust pizzas, good chow and and a lovely atmosphere.

Michaela is great! She was funny, and made sure we were taken care of. The pizza was a little underwhelming, but Michaela is the reason we will probably be back!

You can make your own salad and make your own pizza to order!

The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect. Our waiter, Ivan did a stellar job and was extremely patient with our requests. His customer service made my family's experience at Roots (West Town) all the better.

Service was worse than bad. Food and drink were good so that was the saving grace. But likely will not return solely because of the service. Sad!

Had the famous cheese sticks. Delicious and ooey perfection. Tried the Detroit pizza appetizer. It was like a sour ficocia. Not appetizing at all. The toppings of ricotta and tiny tomatoes are meh at best. Atmosphere really nice. Pretty quite on a Sunday night. And the music wasn't blaring which was nice.
