We enjoyed the most delightful evening at Rosebud! The food was outstanding, the staff were so attentive and friendly, the ambience was gorgeous-- our favorite dining experience in Chicago by far!
Our server Jay made the evening wonderful. He provided great service, knowledge of what we would like to eat, and paired our steaks with a great wine. Would definitely come back and ask for Jay!
I found the waiter annoying with his conversations at the next table, that went on for about 5 min. I don't really like being told that we can split a salad, I don't like them splitting it up at the table, I also didn't want all the blue cheese crumbles out on my salad , the potato was dressed by him as well. He asked me what I wanted on it but not my husband. He didn't like the sour cream on the potato. I didn't realize that's what he was doing when he asked me what I wanted. My steak was to raw and by the time it got back my other food was cold. Waiter never came back to see if we needed anything, if everything was ok. I was told waiters and waitress are to seen and not heard, now I understand what that means. Not interested in hearing about his mother getting married. I get he was trying to be friendly but I was also there for a nice stress free dinner for my one trip to a steakhouse in Chicago. The restaurant was very nice and had a nice atmosphere, I think it was just an off night for us. Food was acceptable.
The lamb pop appetizer was great. Our waiter Chris gave exceptional service from the time we sat down until the time we walked out the door. The food was amazing!
Fantastic as always. We split the 32oz(!!!) Porterhouse between the two of us while celebrating my wife's Bday. Its as good as the Bistecca alla Fiorentina we've had in Italy, no lie. Sliced off the bone for table service. The Prime Wedge salad is *chefs kiss* mwuuuah. And of course, two/tree Martinis with Bleu Cheese Olives...c'mon...what a night. Jason at the front of the house will take good care of you. Our server Chris is always top notch, personable, attentive and always great to chat with. Rosebud Steak has become our go-to for steak in recent years. Always look forward to spending our evening there. See you again soon.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Rosebud. We were warmly welcomed at the front door, where our coats were stored. Our outstanding server, Eddie, helped us understand the specials and the unique qualities of the various dishes. The steaks, sides, dessert were all mouth-watering, and the bartenders were spot on. Rosebud was a highlight of our visit to Chicago!
Best steak I've ever had. I got the 8 oz filet, my bf got the 22oz bone in ribeye. Mac n cheese and asparagus as our sides. We came here for NYE/birthday celebration, and we couldn't have picked a better restaurant! Our server Jay was charming, funny, and just a wonderful server. 10/10 all across the board!
We were unaware of the change in owners and didn't know we could not use our gift cards at this location. When we found this out we asked to chat with the manager. He came over to the table immediately in defense mode explaining how they are not affiliated with rosebud, it's there when you make the reservation, etc. We are fine with all of this information. The problem we had was the managers whole delivery of this information. He needs to learn how to talk to people when something is wrong or at all. He didn't he let us say anything he just said what he needed to say and left. The main entrees were good and hot but the sides were clearly made prior to us ordering them and sat under a heat lamp. We had to ask for new wine glasses bc they were dirty. Not the experience we hoped for on NYE.
My wife and I, and a neighbor arrived for a New Years Eve dinner at our 3:30 pm reservation time and were seated promptly. It was a cold winter afternoon and it was nice to be able to check our heavy winter coats. We were given a nice window table. Our server gave us menus and left us alone to peruse the cocktail list. We ordered two Manhattans and a vodka/7up. The Manhattans were delicious and at $20 a bit below the new cost of $24. We then ordered soup and a split chopped salad. Our server split the large salad table side. We ordered a bottle of Barolo which was opened early to allow it to breathe. We ordered dinner which was two specials, prime rib and steak frites, and the short rib pasta. We also had three sides; macaroni and cheese, corn off the cob, and a baked potato which was also prepared table side. Our server poured the wine at the right amount, not overfilling the glasses. All of our meals were expertly prepared. We took leftovers of everything which were nicely packed at table side and placed in sturdy containers and bags to carry. We split the carrot cake for dessert. It was so large we took half of it home. Our dinner was 2 hours and we were never rushed. The service was fantastic! The cost for the meal was about $370 and we left a $80 gratuity. I highly recommend the Rosebud Steakhouse on Walton. Get there4 early because it gets crowded later in the evening.
I love the ambiance and the food is delicious. We often order the brick chicken to split. I sometimes order the chopped steak with mushrooms which I love. Very generous drinks.

This was our first time at Rosebud. We truly enjoyed our experience and we plan to come back again.
This place always is a winner for me. Took a vendor from out of the country and they just loved it.
Reliable neighborhood option. Reasonably priced glasses of wine and cocktails. Nice variety of non steak options.
I wasn't going to leave this review, but I had emailed the restaurant directly and they couldn't be bothered to respond, so I feel like sharing it here. At my meal at Rosebud, the service, the bread and the water were all fantastic. And the bordeaux blend wine I had was quite enjoyable. To start.. the shrimp cocktail appetizer, advertised with "atomic" horseradish was 3 medium sized shrimp for $27.00 with something amounting to tangy ketchup. I'd challenge the restaurant to go buy a bottle of Heinz cocktail sauce at the store and that's going to be more spicy. To call it "atomic" is quite the reach. And why just 3 shrimp? Cheap. I can buy 2 pounds of shrimp that size at the store for less at retail costs. My main course was what I feel like is the standard at any steakhouse, an 8 oz filet mignon, medium rare.. and I don't know how a chef of any caliber undercooks a medium rare that badly. It wasn't blue but it was close. They did offer to bring it up to temp but then they overcooked it. The char made it unenjoyable. Very disappointed. My side of macaroni & cheese was underwhelming because of the oversized shell noodles. The cheese was great and obviously made it all stick together, but the al dente pasta (since it was oversized), getting two or three shells per bite was a majority chewy pasta. I only ate about half of it. They sent a few spoonfuls of mac & cheese out with my re-fired filet which I felt was a little patronizing, because I didn't want more mac & cheese. I wanted my steak to be cooked correctly. No consolation was made. No manager came over or talked to me about it. No response from the email that I sent. Pretty disappointed in the $125.00 meal and I won't be back.
Brick chicken was completely overdone burnt and extremely dry. I have had this dish before and always is a solid dish and juicy. Totally missed the mark.
