The food was really good! I got the smothered pork chops with Mac and Yams. The food was so hot I had to wait for it to cool down! The chops were tender as heck and the sides were well seasoned. The lady as the counter had a chill vibe and was quick with her service, without rushing. Honestly coming there again.

Place is clean people are friendly and they have a variety of side orders to go with the meat and it’s like they’re always prepared to serve. I really like being a Rubys when I did go and when I called in I was placing an order over the phone, even though the pandemic has come and gone, they still remain friendly.. eat at on the run

This was my very first time experiencing Ruby’s Soul Food (Fish & Chicken) & honestly, it wasn’t too bad of a time. I ordered online thru their website, which seemed to cause some confusion at the register but upon me sewing my confirmation number and receipt on my iPhone, she was able to locate the order, which I had selected to pay cash at the store during my pick up. I ordered the fried catfish and grits bowl, and surprisingly it was pretty good. The grits were actually slightly disappointing, but that catfish was nothing short of amazingly delicious! Hands down the catfish saved the entire dish, and possibly even the entire experience. I am from Wisconsin and was visiting Chicago for a concert last night and decided to try something new before hitting the highway this morning, which is how I stumbled upon Rubys soul food in the first place. The service was OK, the ladies were helpful, just not very pleasant. He kind of gave the New York of Midwest attitude, which I Chyna dig, but may not be everybody’s cup of tea. Overall I would definitely suggest trying Ruby’s Soul Food if you’re in the Downtown Chicago area & the hunger pains start trying your happy spirit. I’ll definitely be back to try the lamb chops.

It's all about The Dressing.I order from Ruby's at least once a week and I always get my Soulfood Bowl with fried chicken and it always leaves me satisfied and full...did I mention I place an order once a week?However..The dressing is a religious experience for me it's so good! This is the type of home cooked meal that I crave often and when you have prompt and attentive service and a big menu ( I'm coming for you next smothered pork chops with Yams and Dressing?) you'll have a good time.

When they first opened the food was great and the service was fair. The location is on the corner near a bus stop so parking sucks. There is a parking lot next to the Boost Mobile store but park at ur on risk.... They are over priced and food has taken a major turn for the worst...

I normally get the smothered pork chops, they’re always on point but I tried the j*** tacos today and they are a must have. Super surprised at how good they were, chicken is moist and flavorful. Fried chicken and spaghetti is good too.

I would never go to Ruby's again because the food is real bogus also they have a big spoon and they give you small portions they shake the spoon...

Never give you cornbread, even if you paid. Pork Chops not completely cooked. Always incomplete orders. Not worth visiting again, I've tried.
