Very good Vietnamese food, or just food in general. Cooked by somebody who clearly knows what they're doing as there were layers of well balanced flavors.

Run by racist people who claimed that they have seen my mother before when she’s never stepped foot in the establishment. Extremely rude staff who refused to seat us despite having a reservation.
In response to the owner’s reply to my review:
Let’s get one thing straight: your response is defensive, dismissive, and frankly, dishonest.
You claim to “set the record straight,” yet you gloss over the actual issue — the way your staff treated us with blatant hostility and arrogance. We showed up early, yes, but instead of being greeted with any basic courtesy, we were met with accusations and condescension. And when we tried to explain the situation, we were brushed off and talked down to.
Your attempt to discredit my experience by selectively sharing “documented” details is laughable — especially when your staff falsely claimed they had seen my mother before. That never happened. She had never been to your restaurant. So either your staff confused her with someone else (which begs the question why), or they fabricated that entirely. Either way, it was insulting and weird.
You’re right — calling your team racist is a serious accusation. But so is gaslighting a customer who felt racially profiled and disrespected. Just because your establishment is Asian-owned doesn’t make it immune to bias or poor behavior. Your response reeks of ego — not accountability.
Instead of owning up to the fact that your staff handled the situation poorly, you chose to double down and hide behind a PR statement. You can say you’re rooted in hospitality all you want, but the way you treated us says otherwise.
Next time, instead of writing a preachy essay, maybe take a moment to ask why multiple people are calling out your service in the first place.
Terrific place. The food was excellent, the service was attentive and the vibes were immaculate. It’s a cool little place, tucked under the El tracks on Lake, with big windows, a lot of light and good energy. Mary the owner is the head cook and she does wonderful things with Vietnamese staples. Her husband Dan runs the front of the house and is a gracious host. We had the papaya salad, whole branzino, bo luc lac and the brown butter banana cake. It’s hard to say which was the best as they were each excellent. Highly recommended.

Amazing restaurant! Amazing food and the environment is extraordinary! Absolutely no wait time and the service is lighting fast. If you’re around do your self a favor and try it out! The bathrooms are extremely clean and everything is run like a top! Try the lychee margarita too!

The atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and warm. Everyone there is super friendly, very funny, and made me feel at home. This family business is honestly a gem and I am glad my time in Chicago was spent there. The highlight dish for me was the Banana Brown Butter Cake. It was given to my party and I from the owner themselves and it blew my taste buds. Definitely will be reccomending this restaurant to anyone visiting Chicago.

I honestly think this place is a bit overrated. The pho was super bland—just didn’t have that rich, comforting flavor you expect from a good bowl. On the bright side, the place is really clean and has a nice, welcoming vibe. The staff was friendly and service was quick, which I appreciated. I really wanted to love it, but the food just didn’t deliver. Maybe other dishes are better, but the pho was a miss for me.

Amazing food and service. Was immediately greeted and seated by the owner and he walked through the menu with me and my girlfriend. You can tell this man loves his wife because he raved that it was his wife's cooking. The food is AUTHENTICALLY Vietnamese, everything we ate tasted like it was crafted with care and thought. I've been eating Vietnamese food for decades and the short rib pho was genuinely one of the best pho I've had. A++ for the food and their team.
