We had food delivered. Fast delivery. The food was so good! Soup, salad. And hummus. I've had home made middle eastern and north African food and this definitely was just like home made. Will order again when I'm in Chicago.

Salam Restaurant offers a mix of enjoyable flavors and areas that could use a little polishing. Many of the dishes show real promise—seasoned nicely, prepared with care, and delivering that comforting Middle Eastern warmth that keeps you interested. The portions are fair, and the menu has a nice variety, making it easy to find something that hits the spot. Service is generally friendly, and the atmosphere feels casual and inviting enough for a relaxed meal.

That said, consistency can be hit or miss. Some dishes arrive full of flavor while others feel a bit mild or uneven, and wait times can stretch longer than expected during busier hours. With a bit more attention to pacing and seasoning, Salam Restaurant could easily shine brighter. As it stands, it’s a decent and dependable place, earning a solid three stars.

My son recommended this place to our family after he went with his school. (A Discover Chicago class). We were not disappointed! The gentleman server was very warm and welcoming, the food was literally amazing, everything was so full of flavor. We’ll absolutely be returning.

We had the chicken shawarma plate and it was delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly. We also had the ten piece wings and couldn’t stop eating them. Service was kind, caring, and very attentive. Thank you for the experience. I highly recommend Salam!

I have been going to Salam since they were half their current size. We have not been in a few years and decided to go there with our 9 year old for our anniversary lunch.
The food is excellent! Hummus is the best in the city! Portions were generous, prices reasonable and service very attentive and friendly. I'm glad to see them keeping up their quality. We all enjoyed our visit.
The only thing I didn't like was the 'scan to see menu online' bit. It is not convenient and hard to compare your options having to scroll thru a long list of offerings. The server was very helpful with suggesting dishes that were exactly what we wanted, I do wish for a printed menu though, even a small folded flyer would do.
All in all, highly recommend!

Been my go to place for years. Their tabouleh is cruchy and fresh. The hummus is better than noon O kabab’s lol. Salam’s hummus is of superior consistency, smooth and not grainy. Honestly I find their hummus better than the one I had in Israel. Salaam’s hummis is very similar to the one I had in Bethlehem (West Bank). Their kifta is great. The shawarma is on the salty side. Recently I had a craving for some mansaf since I just got back from Jordan and have it too.

So i was passing through when I saw the restaurant and immediately drove into the parking. I went in and was greeted by the man behind the counter “ noor”. I had the ful with pita bread and it took me 8 years back to the day when i first had this dish. And it didn’t disappoint. So I am definitely going to come back here with my friends and try their other dishes too. noor offered me the baklava and that too was very delicious!

A large group of us went to dinner and had a largely pleasant experience. As a Palestinian, I felt that some foods could be improved but overall the food was great.
Hummus and falafel were excellent no complaints.
Mixed grill - the beef was overcooked, same with the chicken
Shawarma chicken was flavorful.
Jerusalem salad was so disappointing. Italian or French dressing seriously??? It’s olive oil and lemon that you need. Also what’s fattoush without pomegranate molasses???
Prices were reasonable.
