Friendly little Greek diner in a quaint neighborhood. Good food. Sit in a comfortable booth with a hanging plant overhead. I had a gyros sandwich, others had ham and cheese, gyros omelette with hash browns, toast. All very good. They are open until 3 pm. If you want waffles, go before noon. I recommend.
did you know salonica is open at 7 AM? i found out today, and im so happy to share it. when you get here early enough, there are window seats galore (and so we snagged one), from which you can watch all of the finance bros walk to the metra and professors going in the opposite direction, from the station to campus. kids and parents too, biking on the way to daycare.. it’s an endless flow of morning traffic. we each ordered a side of hasbrowns (only vegan option.. sorry y’all)...
The breakfast was great. The menu is exactly what I would expect from a diner. The waffles were great, but larger than expected. So I probably should've split one between the two kids. Great value overall. The 4 stars on food is for general lack of seasoning (salt).

Our waitress was very friendly, and the vibe of the restaurant was exactly what I was looking for. Most of the other patrons seemed like regulars -- not a lot of tourists -- which is a desirable...
