See Thru Chinese Kitchen #12

We’ve been ordering here for years, and I just found out it’s under new management and the food is 100% not the same. I ordered over the phone for pickup so I didn’t know it wasn’t the same til I arrived, but had already ordered so couldn’t back out. This place has been an Albany park gem for so long, but now it’s gone.
The combination plates don’t come with drinks anymore and they don’t put the same amount of food as before. Prices were about the same? Two Dinner specials and one almond cookie $29
Service was nice though. The inside looks nicer than before. Not the same nostalgia.

I ordered dinner specials today from the Albany park location, and to my surprise when I walked in I notice some remodeling had been done. When the cashier comes out from the back, I realize its an unfamiliar face and I was able to see unfamiliar faces in the kitchen. To my surprise…. They are new owners. I pick up my order and felt the bag wasn't heavy, and the cashier said no soda included.
When I get home and I took out the 2 dinner specials I got very disappointed. First of all, they don't use the foam trays anymore the served the dinner in the plastic containers. There was barely any food and the taste is totally different than the original See Thru. The egg foo young were very small and the brown gravy was not good to our taste. I have been ordering from See Thru for at least 20 years and I have never been unsatisfied as I was today. For those of you that have been ordering from there for years in the past, this is a heads up. I will try to post a picture of the dinner special I got. By the way the dinner special is $12.95 (I could be off a few cents, I threw away the receipt) they DID NOT serve $12.00 worth of food. No napkings, no fork no spoon in my order pick up.

Called in to place an order for pick up as I usually do but a robot operator answers, it couldn’t seem to understand what I wanted. Was very annoying and frustrating. 2nd of all the prices went up which is fine I get it inflation but for the prices to go up and the portion sizes to go smaller is insane to me. My family and I were so shocked and disappointed. We always get the same thing it’s been 10+ years coming here and it wasn’t the same. I’m not sure if the owner changed or what happened but I miss how this place was before ☹️

We ordered Mongolian beef and they served it to us onions in Mongolian sauce. Pretty old place.

It was ok my rice bowl was not the brown fried 🍚 rice but it was ok

I love their food! It’s fresh and affordable for their generous portions. The owners are also nice. I got the hunan shrimp dinner special and beef chow fun. Never fails to disappoint.

The prices are affordable, and the portions are generous compared to other places, with fresh ingredients. I really liked that the oil used in the fried rice was clean, which added to the flavor. This was my second order, and I was pleased to find that the taste was consistently great, just like the first time. Highly satisfied!

I ordered a large tofu with vegetable and rice. I did not get tofu at all. I called multiple times before close and no one answered. Could not leave a message as their mailbox is full. I want a refund!!
