I can't think of anything negative to say about this restaurant. I had the Mabo Tofu (a favorite of mine when I lived in Japan) and it was excellent. I also had the vegetarian gyoza and that was great, too, with just a little kick of heat to keep it interesting. I also sampled a couple of my comanions' dishes and those were quite good, too. It's a lovely place and the service was friendly and fairly prompt. I only wish I'd had the chance to try a few more things (the hot pots looked great).

Portion size of ordered food was good. Spice level in a "spicy" dish was enough to leave a pleasant burn in the mouth. I enjoyed my lunch. Service was a bit slow for the level of customers during our visit. Nice calm atmosphere right off the street.

We get carryout from Shang occasionally and it is generally very good but also quite a bit more expensive than other Chinese restaurants we frequent. This was my first time dining in the restaurant. The service was ok.The atmosphere feels pretty generic to me.I ordered the softshell crab hotpot, and it was delicious! Not the kind of thing I would order for carryout, so it was a nice surprise. I would definitely go again to eat this dish.

Very rude server and bartender. The bartender was picking his teeth with a tooth pick and serving drinks/food. Very disgusting. The server/bartender also seemed very annoyed when we expressed that we were leaving early. Terrible service and bad hygiene. Absolutely not worth anyone’s health or time.

The food is excellent, but for the love of god do not order delivery from this restaurant. We placed an order via their website that was supposed to be delivered in about an hour. After an hour and a half we started wondering where the food was, and tried calling the restaurant - it went straight to a voice message with no way to talk to a person. You can "leave a message" and hope they call you back. After 2 hours we went to the restaurant, where our food had been cooling for an hour. No delivery attempt had been made, nor any attempt to reach us. Since we couldn't follow up online, or on the phone, if we hadn't physically gone there we might not have gotten our food at all. Apparently they don't have their own delivery drivers and have to call someone in, but just...didn't?This wasn't any individual employee's fault, either - this is a failure of their whole service setup. I'm sorry, you just can't run a restaurant without a phone line that is answered by a person. If you don't have delivery drivers, don't offer delivery - direct customers to GrubHub or Uber Eats and let them handle it.The food really was great, but I don't think we'll gamble on getting it again.

Honey sesame chicken (upgrade to fried rice), shrimp shumai, pork spring rolls, and egg drop soup. Thank me later.

Visiting from Dallas and this food is awesome! The flavor is bold - the right amount of spice and garlic. I think this is the best Kung Pao we have ever had. Can’t wait to eat here again because everything going to other tables looked amazing!

Fair at best. Typical and gentrified. Go to Chicago’s actual Chinatown

That was the best General Tso’s chicken I’ve ever eaten. The service was amazing and attentive. The crab rangoon was delicious too! Would recommend the pork belly as well, but it was very spicy. Would definitely come again next time I’m in town!
