This place caught me off guard all across the board. The building is unassuming but it’s fire in those walls. The portions were huge of course. The general tso and sweet and sour were crazy. We got the egg rolls too. 45$ including the tip. I’m so full that when I got home I didn’t reach for any sweet snacks. Just go in there.

Ordered take out as it was my first time trying this place. Glad to say I was not disappointed. My gf and I chose items from the chefs specialty - I ordered noodles and the beef was tender and the shrimp was cleaned well and packed with the protein. My gf loved her food as well. Will be coming back.

"Let's make it a Shanghai night" has always been an exciting phrase to hear from my partner since I moved to Chicago. Genuinely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Always quality and high quantity food for a reasonable price. Dined in for the first time recently after a year or so of pickup orders and it is a very cozy hole in the wall. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting a nice fulfilling Chinese food night!

Nice looking resturant, though I did not sit down to eat. Rather, I got take out, and I feel I must warn people that if you do not have a stable way to transport the food, then it will be messy getting the food out. They load the boxes with enough sauce to damage the integrity of the container. Luckily, they wrap each box in a plastic bag so it's not getting everywhere until you open it. Though the food was quite tasty.

I have to post a review because I have tried many different Chinese places since moving back to Chicago and their sesame chicken was one of the best sesame chickens I have had in the city. The other dishes we ordered were really good too! A+ We'll definitely be ordering here again

Got the orange chicken, chicken and pineapple fried rice, and shrimp egg rolls. Everything was fantastic. Also super cute place. When I went to pick up the order it looked so cozy and peaceful.

Love this place
I recently visited Shanghai Inn restaurant with high hopes of enjoying a nice dinner, only to be met with disappointment and frustration. Despite Google stating that the restaurant closes at 9:30 pm, I arrived at 8:15 pm to find the staff rude and unwelcoming, claiming that they were closing at 8 pm.
The misinformation on their closing time led me to drive from far away, only to be turned away by unprofessional and inhospitable staff. The lack of courtesy and respect shown by the employees left a sour taste in my mouth, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience.
In conclusion, my visit to Shanghai Inn was marred by inaccurate information, rude staff, and a general lack of customer service. Save yourself the trouble and choose a different dining establishment that values its customers and treats them with respect.

The place hardly has lunch special and if so you can only pick from 4. The staff looks uneducated and rude. If you want to eat unseasonably unsalted food with no flavor dunked in hot spices come her with friend rice with nothing but soy sauce be my guest. I rather have a ? next houses down! For 5$. Waste of time ⌚ and food.

This place in my humble opinion has some of the best Chinese food I have eaten. Portions are big. I am a huge fan of the Mongolian beef

We had delivery so I can’t comment on service or atmosphere.
I had the Mongolian beef and my partner had the beef with broccoli (not pictured) and we split some crab raccoons and egg rolls.
The Mongolian beef was good with portions. We both ordered large so we could veg the next day. The Beef wasn’t chewy and fair w/ vegetable portions. It wasn’t bad but I’ll probably try something different next time.
The crab raccoons were pretty decent with filling and size. The tips were winged and super crispy. I saw “crabmeat “ unlike some other places that just fill it with cream cheese.
The egg rolls were fairly portioned and the crisp level was 10/10 filling was average not lacking flavor.
