We had an amazing experience this evening for a birthday dinner, everything was amazing and we will be back for more. The staff was wonderful and we had some moments to talk more with the manager and learn history behind dishes and about Morocco. For some reason pictures won’t attach but everything was beautifully presented and so flavorful!
I hadn’t had a true Moroccan dinner in years and suggested Shokran to a close friend. He was not sure what he’d find…….
Suffice it to say everything was outstanding! The appetizers and dinners were sensational - especially the lamb.
Warm and friendly service, huge portions, very fair pricing, fine atmosphere. My friend cannot wait to go there again!
If you’ve never had a Moroccan feast I can assure you - this is the real thing!
Parking: Street parking on Irving Park and side streets.

My friend recommended this restaurant as she had eaten here before. We were a table of 3 and we came for dinner. Despite the staff being very busy, they made sure to check on us and were so kind. We had 2 main entrees and 1 appetizer, and omg, the meat was so tender and flavorful, and the vegetables were divine! The portions were definitely enough for 3 people! We also had the mint tea (includes one free refill). We didn't know the restaurant was cash only, but they have an ATM inside! I was so happy to try this restaurant and try Moroccan food for the first time!

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE COUSCOUS! I lived in North Africa for 1.5 years and have been hoping to find delicious Couscous Royal here in Chicago. Here it is! Great friendly service as well.

It would be nice if you guys have pastry on the menu and take cards not just cash
My husband is Moroccan and took me here on our first date, now we came back and the food is still amazing. Makes me miss Morocco and my mother-in-laws cooking. Great vibe.

Had Chicken Bastilla and Lamb Fez, both were excellent. Interesting and flavorful! The owner came and talked to us and was genuinely happy to share his country's food with us. That made it feel kind of like eating at a friend's house : )

As a Moroccan living in Chicago, it's a bit disheartening that our rich culinary tradition is represented by only two restaurants in such a large city. Nonetheless, I'm grateful for what we have. My first visit to Marrakech Restaurant set high expectations, so I anticipated great things from Shokran Restaurant. We Moroccans are quite particular about our traditional cuisine, allowing little room for error. Shokran Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way.
From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the spacious interior. The decor, with its traditional Moroccan furniture and seating, immerses you in Moroccan culture even before the food arrives. Our server's warm hospitality made me feel right at home. The experience was further enhanced by the popular Moroccan songs playing, which had me singing along as I enjoyed my meal.
Now, about the food: it was not only 100% authentic in flavor and presentation but also wonderfully aromatic. What sets this place apart is the impressive speed of service. Despite Moroccan food being time-consuming to prepare, everything was fresh. I enjoyed the Chicken Bastila, Royal Couscous, Beet Salad, Zaalouk, and, of course, the must-have Moroccan tea, which was absolutely delicious.
Shokran is perfect for families, couples (if you want to surprise your date), solo diners, and especially large groups. This restaurant deserves more than five stars. No flaws. Just go and enjoy!

Impossible to say what’s best here. I walked in to be immediately treated as family, and served the most delicious food, in a beautiful atmosphere. I can’t recommend this place enough.
