A true gem of a local tavern! The jukebox, decor and long bar create a warm and cozy ambiance where you can enjoy the company of friends and family. Stop by for a glass of warm Glogg in the wintertime, you won't regret it!

Went here because I am a Cubs fan and an Anthony Bourdain fan, such a great bar north of Wrigley, very friendly staff, and regulars. If you don't want to stay for a Cubs game I highly suggest the Andersonville neighborhood and you have to go to this bar.

The owner and his son are great folks. This bar accommodates all sorts of people with any pronoun and identification. I got a Cheers vibe from the great communication.

I wish I could find some redeeming qualities for this place, but they simply don’t exist. There is no reason for a 4.6 rating, so the positive reviews are likely paid or fake. The proof is that the reviews are all either one star, like mine, or five stars.

The place is dirty, with sticky tabletops and floors that seem to have been cleaned with dirty mop water or cloths. They claim the place has history, and I believe it because you can smell it—like a moldy basement. The fruit flies were plentiful and friendly; they came toward my friend's drink, which she couldn’t drink fast enough before one finally landed in it so we left.

Seriously, avoid the bathrooms unless you have a strong stomach. The night I was there, the men’s restroom smelled like an outhouse. They could clean it for a week and only upgrade it to a porta-potty smell.

The staff is indifferent, and the owner seems to be a complete jerk, hanging with his friends and ignoring anyone he didn’t know. It’s like Cheers but with a&&holes, and it’s not Ed Debevic’s, where the rude staff is the draw. The cash-only policy is super annoying, and they probably make bank on the ATM (at the expense of their customers). I won’t return. The drinks were also weak, so, as I said, zero redeeming qualities. Skip it unless the owner likes you.

Great old bar opened officially at the end of prohibition (it had been a speakeasy). I don't think they serve food.

Amazing neighborhood bar, friendly crowd. If you go in the colder months, be sure to try the glögg, a hot Swedish drink sure to warm you up. One of the few "Swedish" places remaining in Andersonstan.
