Just came here for the happy hour. I had a pino Grigio while I waited for the train to come. I was thinking about coming back for drinks and food but looking at the reviews I’m not too sure.

Don’t order Thai green curry specifically u r Asian. Tasteless watery with some raw onion with green beans and 2 cherry tomatoes. Really that’s how u make curry? Restaurant used to be good but this second time we had bad experience. Last time they put 5 pieces of chicken and when she asked y it’s less he said they don’t have chicken. Should have asked instead of giving less. On top he was rude.

I visited this restaurant on Saturday, and it was quite an experience—though not a positive one. There was only one chef, who was a kid, and just a single waitress managing the entire place. I couldn't help but wonder if this was even a legitimate restaurant! After arriving and being the only customers, we found ourselves waiting for about 45 minutes. When the food finally arrived, it was a disappointment: burnt and served in smaller portions than expected. Overall, I would suggest looking elsewhere for a meal. Just skip this place if you can!

On their website and on online ordering, the Ho Chi Minh dish is listed to have braised short rib and costs $18. To order without meat is $12. I ordered online and picked it up. The food did not have any braised short rib, but I was charged full price. Server tells me that the dish no longer comes with meat even though there's an option to buy the dish for $12 without meat. So why even have the option available to pay full price? They wouldn't give me a full refund. This was my first and last time at this place.

Leaving a review based on my history with Thalia Spice in River West. I haven’t been to this newer one but was so happy to have discovered it walking in Block 37. Thalia Spice was always a great spot and I can’t imagine this one would be any different. Looking forward to trying it soon!

Simply Thalia is a solid spot if you’re craving a mix of Asian flavors in the Loop. I went for the Pad Thai ($16) and the spicy tuna roll ($12), and both hit the spot. The Pad Thai had that perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and nutty, with plenty of chicken and fresh bean sprouts. The sushi was fresh, with a nice kick. Also grabbed a Thai iced tea ($5), which was super creamy and refreshing. Service was quick and friendly, and the vibe was casual but classy. Spent about $40 after tax and tip, and I’d definitely come back to try more off their huge menu!

Do not let the aesthetics of this restaurant and friendly wait staff fool you, this place is not good. I don’t think it’s fair to blame the staff for my experience, but there is a major problem with how this establishment operates. My experience was very similar to many reviews here getting sick after eating, and from food that felt like an after thought. Spicy curry for the sake of spice without flavor, undercooked rice, oily salmon, and tasteless sushi made for an underwhelming experience that was heavily punished. Please avoid this restaurant.

Place was really understaffed (one cook and one bartender/waitstaff) on a Saturday night, so everything took forever. They were doing their best, but you can’t get good service with this level of understaffing.
Asked for seltzer water with lime and got the flattest seltzer I’ve ever had in my life, and lime slices that were old and yellow-brown, and had that gross “old lime” taste. Didn’t bring it up because the waitress didn’t really have time to do much of anything…
I had figured that with such a small menu the food would be really yummy, but it was just fine?? Not very flavorful, just spicy…
Picked the place because it looked quiet and comfy (which it was!) but the overall experience was really bad 😭

The food was pretty bland, rice was dry, and options were minimal at best with small portions. For the price, we were definitely expecting it to be tastier.

Extremely slow. There is seemingly one chef and then the bartender who is also the server. Jon was great, honestly wasted talent here. Took almost an hour just to get edamame. From the looks of it, most other tables took that long too. Came here without realizing the reviews/ratings so I opted against food. Edamame was fine, I’m assuming it just came from a bag but you can’t really mess that up.

I've never posted a restaurant review before, but after the dinner I had last night, I have no other choice. This was the worst restaurant dinner I've had in years. To get the positives out of the way: the interior and aesthetic of Simply Thalia are quite nice—deceptive, even!—and my server, Jon, was incredibly kind and attentive, to the degree that I felt bad that his abilities were being wasted away in such a place.
That's because the food was insultingly bad. The menu is microscopic and they didn't even have the ingredients they needed to make half of the dishes being offered. Our server had to come back multiple times to make substitutions in our orders so that they could even be made into SOMETHING. All of the food is clearly frozen and not made in the restaurant when possible. The Korean wings were soft, wet, and sad, and the dipping sauce tasted like cream cheese. And my meal, the Ho Chi Minh salad, came with the worst salmon I've ever had in my life. It was a putrid shade of brown that I didn't know salmon was capable of being, overcooked, and so razor thin that I'm shocked that it didn't slice my tongue off. I ate my meal very politely, which I regret, because within ten minutes I had a stomach ache and chest pains.
In short: DO NOT GO HERE. It legitimately feels like the sort of restaurant Gordon Ramsay would take a film crew to and publicly eviscerate.

Simply Thalia is in my Tina Turner Voice Simply The Best. I have been on a weight loss journey and this restaurant has great healthy food. Whenever I host my shows at Daley Plaza. I come down to block 37 and eat there. Thanks DJ Lonnie B for suggesting it. The avocado and cucumber wrap are scrumptious. My artist Miquan Fair and my sponsor Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas

Always a great time at simply Thalia. They are one of the only restaurants I know about in Chicago with happy from Monday to Sunday and the martinis are good and stiff!

Chicken was ICE cold….literally still frozen? Had them take it back twice and it was still ice cold to the touch…..very weird. I left before the rest of my food came out.
