Do not eat here unless you want old and mold. The chefs smoke in the kitchen over your food, fish and other proteins are stored with the ice that goes into your water, and many health code violations. The employees do not get any tips left, it goes straight to the owner. There are so many delicious authentic Chinese restaurants in chinatown, and lots of choices in greektown. Try those they are tastier and actually cleanly.

Just one tip: if you're gonna call your hot pot chicken wing hot pot, at least put some wings on the surface so that I can see them. Unfortunately, all I saw was a bunch of chicken bones and the wings were no where to be found...

PROS: 1) Price - super affordable and cheap for the amount of meat you get. I got the medium pot and my boyfriend and I could barely finish. The meun said 2 people but I feel like it would feed 3 people. 2) Flavor - it is spicy, salty, and irresistibly good. I was literally licking my fingers when I was picking up my chicken wing. The sauce that they cook everything in is AMAZING. It is spicy, salty, and oily but if you eat it with rice, it will balance out. It is the perfect combo together. 3) Service - THEY SPEAK AND UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. I was reading previous review and a lot of people mention service was bad because the servers could not speak nor understand English. Apparently the servers only speak Mandarin?!? I do not speak mandarin: So, I was speaking English to my server and she understood everything. (FYI: pointing helps too.) She understood all my questions and the type of sauce/spice I wanted in my pot. (IN FULL ENGLISH) I thought service was great, fast, and they were really helpful. (Maybe some people are just ignorant and they can't point a things? IDK?) CONS: 1) Mask - I went during Thursday and I know everybody is uneasy about the virus. Which is understandable but I was not expecting all of the staff members to wear surgical mask. It was kind of a shock and a little scary. (But no stars were taken away Bc of that.) 2) They charge for rice - some people might say oh I don't care about that. BUT y'all don't understand chinese restaurants especially the real Chinese restaurant shouldn't charge for rice! (It is like going to a Italian restaurant and they are charging you for cheese. Which is nonsense!?!?!??) They only gave me 1 bowl of rice for a medium pot even thought it serves 2 people. (Like can you at least give me 2 bowls of rice and not one.) I ended up paying a extra 5 dollars for rice. (Rice is literally so cheap in general) 3) The place is kinda of dirty. It isn't like super dirty where you feel disgusted but on my way to the bathroom...... they have random woks, stoves, boxes, and random s*** around the bathroom area and the hallway. (Maybe it is their storage area but still that isn't professional.) OVERALL: This place is my current obsession!!! The price is unbeatable and the amount of food you get for roughly 23 dollars is insane! But it would be nice if they could clean the walls around the bathroom area and put their woks away. Also, gimme my bowl of rice for free PLEASE

For the same price, I could order much better food with decent amount.

I came here with some friends and had a really good time. Its BYOB and I recommend bringing a lot of B because the food is spicy.

We have no place to go since not too many Chinese restaurants in the loop but I have to say this place sucks

The food is fresh, it tastes good, it’s authentic Chinese food, I’ll bring my friends there.

Love the sliced pork with chili pepper, very typical Hunan style! Love the preserved egg with eggplant and green peppers as well, very tasty!

Horrible under the new management. This is coming from someone who has loyally been coming to this restaurant for about a year. I used to like this place a lot, but now it's just so disappointing. I'll start with the food. It's good, and continues to be good. The meat is always tasty, and the vegetables nicely soak up the sauce of the pot. That's not the problem here. The real problem is the staff. None of the new staff speak any English. So if you don't speak any Mandarin, good luck. I've been here twice, and the wait staff doesn't understand anything you say so you have to point at items in the menu to order. I'd be fine with this except they'll sometimes mess up your order because they'll write down the wrong thing thinking you pointed to the item above or below the one you actually pointed at. You'd think a non-English speaking staff wouldn't be that much of a problem, but they also don't really know how to work either. The waitress on this particular visit messed up my bill when I went to pay by accidentally charging me for the table next to me (which was a bill more than twice mine). When I brought up this issue to her, she had to put the manager on speakerphone to refund my order because she didn't know how to do it herself. In essence, avoid this place if you only speak English. Otherwise be prepared to get what you didn't order for a price you didn't ask for.

WORST Chinese food I’ve ever had. I paid over $11 for a small chicken fried rice which was NASTY. Customer service wasn’t good at all. I got home & found out they only gave me only 1 soy sauce. The chicken tasted weird & hard. Everything was horrible. For the price & the location, I was expecting the food to be better but it wasn’t good at all. I’ll never go back here or recommend this place to anyone.

My sisters and I stumbled upon Sizzling Pot King on a cold Saturday afternoon. We were actually going to check out WJ Noodles but they were unexpectedly closed, so we just walked down the street to this place. We ordered the large size Sizzling Pot. It's a unique style of "dry" hot pot. First you choose the sauce flavor and spicy level, second you choose your meat (or veggies only), third you choose add ons such as veggies or more meat. We ordered the beef short rib with the pork ribs, added Napa cabbage and shiitake mushrooms. Default sides were potato's, broccoli, celery, bean sprout, and jalapeños. To be honest, at first we were very unsure of how the food would taste because we've never seen this style of sizzling pot before but the food was very delicious. It tasted like a hot Asian home cooked meal on a cold day. Flavor was great. Note, you have to order steam rice separately. The large pot was more than enough for 4 of us to share We also got the egg drop soup and beef lo mein. The lo mein was great. The soup was a bit bland. Although food was great, the plate and utensils did not seem clean at all. All of the individual plates that were placed on our table were sticky. We just wiped them down.. that's why minus a star

very disappointing. They charge you almost 4 dollars for adding an ingredient and I only added some lobster balls, some veggies and it cost me almost 40 dollars. The meat is not fresh, not worth it at all.

Don’t believe the ratings,it is spam by the employeess. The restaurant sucks! Since it is Thanksgiving we got no choice cause all the American restaurants are closed so we give it a try. This is the first time I try a hot pot in downtown .I used to have really good pots in Chinatown .But it is such a disappointment. They overcharge u with just little amount of food and the pot is seasoned too salty for us. We ordered mild spicy but it turns out too spicy for us. Besides the service is terrible , I KNOW they are busy but u can’t let the customer wait for more than 20 mins and get the wrong drink. Worst experience ever, never going back

Check your bill before you pay!!!! They will over charge you especially if you are non Chinese speakers. They charged more than 20% tip and pretend they don't understand what you're talking about when asked.
