Small Cheval used to be the best place to go in the city-somewhere I always took my friends and family when they visited. Lately, the food quality has gone way downhill. Last time we were there, the milkshakes were super thin and tasted like chocolate syrup but we figured it was a fluke. This time, both concretes we ordered had an aftertaste of strawberry and frankly should have cost half the price. Furthermore, the burger was half of the size of the bun and also did not feel worth the price increase. Unfortunately, no longer worth going to Small Cheval. :,(

Magnificent burger, eaten all fresco with a beer. What's not to like? Minimal fuss and fab food.

Slightly better than mcdonald, but for more than triple the price, and no in-door seating.

What a perfect place to have an afternoon lunch with my daughter! The “famous fried chicken sandwich” is worthy of its name. The fries were great and the root beer float was perfect for a warm fall afternoon. Highly recommend.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. The staff and ambiance at this place is always great love the outdoor seating. And the food used to be second to none. Sadly they've cheated on everything. Nothing tastes like it used to and is of course even more expensive. Their free aioli is now the best part of the whole experience. Burger quality is nothing as it was a couple years ago and don't let the owners gaslight you. It is different and no longer worth it.

Milkshakes are not at all what they used to be. The shake I received today was so thin and watery and had so much chocolate sauce I felt like I was drinking it straight. This used to be my favorite shake in the city because of how thick it was. Even with delivery they would arrive perfect, but it seems this is no longer the case. I am beyond disappointed.
I went to Small Cheval yesterday, and honestly, I wasn’t too impressed. The meat was a bit tough and lacked seasoning. The bun stuck to the roof of my mouth, which wasn’t pleasant. There wasn’t anything special about the cheeseburger, except for the fries, which were crispy. I was expecting a juicy, flavorful American burger, but overall, I was disappointed. However, that was just my experience. The menu options are quite limited.
Kid-friendliness: The restaurant is child-friendly, as long as they enjoy the food, though the menu options are quite limited.
Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, making it easy for all guests to visit comfortably.

At first I loved the simplicity of the original small menu, but they’ve added a handful of options in the last few months (I think) and everything I’ve tried has been great. Such a nice warm evening dinner spot.

Since the re-opening of this location, I can no longer recommend going to Small Cheval. We have eaten there twice and both times the food was just straight up bad. The new chicken options are game-y and not flavorful.
And the overall quality of the food has gone precipitously downhill. The fries are longer double fried. The bacon has changed. The bun is smaller than it used to be, and the patties are thinner and the meat tastes worse. Finally, the milkshake was so thin and runny it wasn’t worth drinking. Such a disappointment since Small Cheval was one of our go-to spots in the neighborhood. The patio remains awesome, but the food is no longer worth the visit.

This place is pricey but that is really the only complaint that I have. You get what you pay for and in this case it's very high quality food, the cheeseburger is a must have here! I don't come here all the time otherwise I'd be broke but I throughly enjoy the occasional cheeseburger here at this location or any Cheval location.

Yikes, this place has really turned into an overpriced chain! It's too bad.
Issues with my recent pickup order include: freezing cold fries, vaguely rude staff working at the pickup counter (I gave them my name and was met with a stare and no acknowledgement so I started to repeat my name and got a snappy "yeah, I heard you!" Very weird.), and one of the two burgers was completely missing!
Tried calling (not the first time they've forgotten an item, not even the second) but now it's just 4 minutes of automated messages advertising their 20 locations or whatever. Send an email, no response.
Again, it's just a chain now. Skip it.
