Small Cheval- Riverside

Just steps away from the Ogilvie train station, this gem appears. I ordered the double cheeseburger and fries. The cheeseburger was delicious and the fries was crunchy on the outside and cream on the inside. Get the Aioli for the fries too. The restaurant was slow when I was there, but staff was first class. If you need a burger fix, stop by for a great burger priced reasonable too.

This was my first visit to small cheval. I rate it a solid 4 stars because the burger was good and there was a great view of the city. It misses out on the additional star because I was told these burgers were next level, but I didn't think they were anything that special.

Tasty vegetarian burger, but the patty was quite small, especially considering it cost almost 1.5x what the regular burger costs. Golden fries were decent–lightly crisped and heavily (but not overly) salted.

I was sort of expecting faster service since there were only a couple other people there when I arrived, but I waited probably 15 minutes for my burger. It wasn't a problem for me, but it may be relevant info if you're reading this review.

Fantastic double decker cheeseburger, the hype is real. It was so delicious! Fries were very good, but the burger is where it’s at. I asked for lettuce and tomato, which added a perfect texture contrast to the juicy, moist patties and mout watering mayo/pickle/onion topping. I will be back for sure. Service is very nice and upbeat- and quick- I would call it fancy fast food.

I’m from Los Angeles, but if I lived near Chicago near this location, I can see myself eating here weekly. It is that good.

I picked up lunch to bring back to my office. I ordered a cheeseburger, there was no specification/questions of how it would be cooked. When I bit into my burger, all I saw was bright red/pink. It’s the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen in a burger, it literally looked like it wasn’t cooked at all inside. I got a knife and cut the burger up and it was completely red and pink all throughout the entire burger. We’re not even talking rare, it was legit raw.

This is the first time in my life I’ve ever thrown away a burger because it wasn’t cooked. I don’t want to get sick. I know they’re busy and probably want to get the orders out as quickly as possible, but they should really be making sure the burgers are fully cooked. I don’t know what their default cooking temp is, but the burgers should not look like what I was served. Other people in my office were also grossed out when they saw it.

I don’t think I’ll be back here, but if I do, I’ll order my burger well done. I’d rather have an overcooked burger vs a raw one.

The fries were just okay to me, the aioli really carried them.
