Unfortunately, Small Chaval has lost its charm since being absorbed by a larger chain. The quality just isn’t the same, and the burgers don’t have the same seasoning they once did. It’s disappointing to see a once-great spot become just another franchise. I miss the original vibe and flavor that made it special.

I've been meaning to try Small Cheval for years, since I'm always passing by their Wicker Park location. I finally decided to try them, as cheeseburgers are my favorite food. I gotta say, it was fantastic. I got the signature double cheeseburger, with fries with white cheese sauce on the side and a cookies and cream milkshake. Stopped in for a burger, fries and a beer. Good proximity to my hotel. Everything was good. And fine. But nothing to make one say wow. Was hoping there'd be bar seating, but no. Counter order, they give you a buzzer and you go grab your order when it's ready. Okay - good I guess, and fine. Beer was kind of warm (I should've said something), but food came out quick and hot.
