It's perplexing why there are so many four and five star reviews for this burger franchise?
First off, there's no comparison to the great Au Cheval....none (zero). To anyone hoping for even a close resemblance, expect disappointment. We had cheeseburgers and fries. The taste? Salt, salt and more salt. The beef looked like a quality cut and was cooked appropriately but there was no flavor capable of overcoming the sodium. With so many mom & pop places in the city that serve great burgers; you'd be wise to skip this joint.

Rooftop is awesome. Al was working if I remember names correctly. Great guy. Great atmosphere near the action but the upstairs patio area is somewhat hidden.

This is my go-to place for a quick but satisfying lunch.

Had the double and chicken tenders at Small Chavel in Wrigleyville, and wow—so good! The burger was juicy and perfectly cooked, and the chicken tenders were crispy and flavorful. The staff is super friendly, and the cozy vibe makes it a great spot to hang out. Definitely coming back!

I used to love coming here! Especially after a movie hanging at the bar and grabbing a burger. They’ve decided to make a giant takeout counter for food and the bar for drinks has like 5 seats now. Walked in and right back out tonight. It no longer feels like somewhere you can come and have a beer and a burger and just hang out. Three stars cuz the burgers are still really good and the staff was very nice.

Food was delicious! Definitely will order here again!

My boyfriend and I just went to the Wrigley Small Cheval and I wanted to come here to say I HATE the changes they are making.

Wrigley now has a counter that you order from, no servers, no ordering at table, just another order window/ fast food, they just have a bar (I wonder how long before they take that out because the bartender was doing nothing).

The food was all wrong. I usually go to small cheval, struggle to get through a burger cause it’s so big and full of toppings. Like I usually have to get a single because a double is just too much.

I ordered a single burger with “everything on it” My bun was bigger than the single patty, it had a few pickles and mayonnaise on it, the bun was approaching stale and definitely different than it usually is. I went to the counter to ask for lettuce and tomato. (I added the ketchup)

The fries tasted like they were stale but they were really hot? It was like they had sat in the window for too long and they threw them back in the fryer to call them fresh. The garlic aioli even just tasted like mayo. It used to be really strong garlic flavor. Everything was plane. We spent $32 on a double signature, a single, and an order of fries and this was not worth half the price. Insanely disappointed. I go to Small Cheval for something better than McDonalds but now I feel like I could (and should) go anywhere else in Wrigley for better value.

Food might be not bad. But customer service and wait time was ridiculous. We came just around noon - no cubs game , no event. Place was empty, only one more table occupied. For burger and fries we had to wait 49 minutes!!!

Super cute location and AMAZING burgers. It has a balcony with outside seating. The bathrooms are really nice and clean. Service was great!

Honestly had an aggravating experience. Snotty staff plus overpriced burgers on an overcooked bun. $30 for a burger and fries, a minimum tip setting of 20% and i have to go pickup my food and bus my own table. A perfect example of a good restaurant expanding too quickly with no actual controls. They'll close half of these within a few years. The burger was above average, the only positive.
