Best birthday dinner! The view from our table was amazing and we had excellent customer service ! We will definitely come back next time we are in Chicago.
This is our second time at this place, and we have had great experiences both times. Our server was super patient and explained everything in detail. We went during lunchtime, so it was quiet. Great food and good ambience. Right by the riverwalk.
Wasnt able to be seated until my guest arrived. That was awkward since my guest got stuck in traffic and was delayed about 20 mins, so I had to sit at the bar until the guest arrived. Thats an inefficient process and made no sense. I was here in the past, and they never made me wait for the other guest to arrived.
My fiancé and I went for our anniversary. It was our first time. We were disappointed that we could not be seated downstairs, but we got over that. We had a card on our table wishing us a happy anniversary which was a great touch, and everyone always wished us a happy anniversary. Lucy, our server, was great. Our drinks we had were also great. They even gave us a dessert on the house to celebrate which was delicious and huge. We started with the bacon that my fiancé didn't care for but I enjoyed. I also had a half dozen of oysters which were ok, but for the price, the oysters were terribly small. My fiancé ordered the 10oz filet with bernaise sauce. I ordered the dry aged 28oz rib eye. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Sadly, neither of us thought the steaks were very tasty. We both ended up using the bernaise for some flavor, and though they were cooked great, we just didn't think they had much flavor which was a disappointment. We split the potatoes, mac, and asparagus. All were good except the truffle mac - easily the worst thing I've eaten at a restaurant of this caliber.
It really delightful restaurant experience - excellent staff and very attentive to detail and food was amazing!
Lovely atmosphere and view. Friendly staff with knowledgeable recommendations and impressive service.
Went to celebrate our son's 25th birthday. Steaks were fantastic. Desserts were large and delicious. Awesome experience.
The server was amazing. I would recommend the lower level by the window. It's more private. less noise and has a wonderful view. The only drawback is I thought it would be a more formal to semi formal attire, but the atmosphere was VERY casual. Which would be fine, but I was expecting a more intimate aviance for the $. But the service was wonderful.

Went to Chicago marathon last weekend and came across this restaurant near my hotel by chance. What a great find. I ended up going there twice during my 4 days stay in Chicago. The food is scrumptious. My NY strip steaks were cooked perfectly. I saw other patrons’ Tomahawk, it looks unbelievable. I would order that if I had my dog with me. Service was impeccable. The servers I had for both nights (Laura and Michelle) were hospitable and attentive. One of the managers Trent, he checks up on patrons (myself included) and is professional. Will definitely visit again next time I’m in town.

Had an amazing experience here at Smith & Wollensky! There's lots of places to choose from in the city with fantastic food, but in the end when you choose to go out for a special occasion, its about the service and experience and they delivered on all fronts. Special thanks to Charlie who was very accommodating with our reservation including a late shift in the schedule and set us up right from the start for an amazing birthday experience for a special young man. Our server was a true professional, touring us through the menu and striking that perfect balance of being attentive without rushing or interrupting. The cocktails and wine were top shelf, the wagyu filets cooked to perfection, the deserts decedent. The view, seats, ambiance all wonderful.
