I've been to smoque Steak 3 times, and I always leave satisfied. I was devastated to hear they would be closing. Still doesn't feel real. This was becoming one of my fave spots. I still have hope that one day I'll hear some good news that they've returned, but for now, I'll stay with my fond memories of their delicious food.
We had an exceptional server, Brittany. The food was delicious and exceeded our expectations. Shareable summer salad and crab cake was a delight for starters. The 8 oz prime steak was 5 stars. Sides (broccolini, carrots, rosemary potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, fried green tomatoes) were so tasty: freshly prepared, well seasoned and with generous portions. Mango passion fruit sorbet was a palate cleanser and a pleasure. The wine list was respectable. We started with a lovely sparkling Cava, had a full bodied Cabernet with dinner and were tempted by a port or sherry with desert but stuck with the cab which nicely complimented the drunken chocolate cake. This was our first visit and we were impressed with ambience, attentiveness and quality. Special mention to proprietor Barry for taking time to check in with us during our meal and to explain their new business model starting next week with a focus on catering, celebrations and special events. We are looking forward to visiting them again for their seasonal special events.
I wasn't going to write a review but since I've been prompted twice, I'll go ahead. This restaurant is closing next week. We received a $200 gift card to this restaurant last month and when we discovered this, beat feet to get in. Very clear to see why they are closing. Maybe because it's just hard to find good help these days? It was clear that the management was involved and at attention. But the front of the house experience was just poor from beginning to end. We arrived at 7.45 for an 8pm reservation and were invited to sit at the bar. No one came to us for over five minutes and we waited 10 mins for drinks. When our drinks finally came, the person who took my drink order said, you ordered a martini on the rocks, right? We finally sat down at 8.10 at a 2-top, despite a more comfortable 4-top nearby at which no party was sat for remainder of the evening. The person who poured water looked like she couldn't wait to get out of there. It took at least 10 mins for our server to come to our table. She had an awesome personality, but no serving skills. We finally had our appetizer by about 8.40, which took all of 10 mins to eat. You can't go wrong with bone marrow and they even brought potato chips since I'm GF. By 9pm, we asked for our salads because we were starving. They brought them at about 9.05 and then brought all our food at 9.10. There was a big conversation about this near the kitchen among the staff. At 9.20, again, server was nowhere to be found. We asked a different server to please get us our dinner. By this time the restaurant was almost empty. Lots of the staff standing around chatting. We finally got our dinner 90 minutes after our reservation time. The Mediterranean chicken was delicious and my husband enjoyed his steak. The potatoes gratin were soupy but tasted good. If you're trying to rush in before they close, unless you're looking for a lengthy dining experience, save your time and your money.
Wonderful restaurant - my family's favorite steakhouse in the city for many reasons. The food is amazing and delicious. The Smoqued Pineapple drink is quite possibly my favorite drink in the city, I would drink ten if I could. The staff is great and the price is very reasonable. It brings back what a steakhouse should be.
My wife and i dined in 8.21.24. It's was my birthday and anniversary. The server didn't ask if we were celebrating anything and our steaks were under cooked. Myself being a chef didn't complain, it could've been better.
The hostess was polite took us early for our reservation. However it did take time for the waitress to arrive And take our order - she did explain the menu and answered all of our questions. The ribeye I ordered is not your “typical” ribeye, it was dry then boiled , then seared from my understanding (I did not care for this style of ribeye)- the garlic mashed potatoes were served cold , but they did take them back and once served hot they were good. I visit a lot of steak restaurants over the US and unfortunately I was not impressed with Smoque Steak.
Great brunch. Can’t wait to try rest.

We had 4 different steaks at our table and could not pick a favorite - all delish, smoke and finish just right. The Brussel sprouts are a don't miss side. Wine recommendation was spot on. And while we initially planned to forgo dessert, we were so glad we did not - that butterscotch pudding is a show stopper and the berry compote with lemon curd made an outstanding topper to the cheesecake. A warm room, with tasty eats and great service, made for a terrific bday celebration.
Sous vide my heart. Eat here.

This was the finest dining experience I have ever had. The food was outstanding, the service impeccable and I would definitely suggest this to everyone that would like to experience an outstanding evening. I was celebrating my birthday and was treated like a queen...
Smoque is wonderful. All the steaks are perfectly prepared and seasoned. Our waiter was a bit slow and lingered at the table in instead of moving our orders along, but I could tell he cared. A couple items were forgotten when the mains came, but it was resolved relatively quickly. The ribeye cap steak was especially outstanding!
Good food, but a bit overpriced. Servers were great, but, they kept refilling our water glasses. It was a little intrusive after a while. It was also wasteful. I suggest they approach tables with the water carafe and ask if anyone needs water. Then serve if asked.
we will definitely come back to try more options. Everything we eat was delicious the bone marrow and the crostini to start and the ribeye and skirt steak and frites which were the best frites we ever had. The desserts are a must have to finish the meal anyone you chose you won't be disappointed.
Food was delicious! The fillet was tender & cooked to perfection. My blue cheese butter, brussel sprouts, & loaded mashed potatoes were also delectable. However, the food was not hot. The server wasn't as attentive as I'd like. Maybe our food was sitting out before it was brought to us.
