After thinking about it , if I should leave a review or not I decided that this will be the best for all of Us.On Feb 11, I make a reservation on this Restaurant for Feb 14 , we where 2 couples the reservation was for 6:30pm for dinner , the first couple came in a few minutes earlier and the waiter sit them on the Table next to the Front door about 4' from door so every time someone comes in the cild air and the draft came in , I ask polite to the waiter if she can switch our table and she HAD A VERY NASTY ACTITUDE AND SAID NO, there where a lot of tables available on both sides of the restaurant, we end up leaving the place ,and I ask if I can talk to the chef but she refuse and ignore my , its a SHAME THAT ONE BAD APPLE WILL RUIN THIS RESTAURANT, THIS LADY WAITER HAS A BAD TEMPER AND I HOPE THE OWNER READ THIS AND REPRIMEND the attitude of this employee. So this will not happen again to another consumer.

What a gem we found. Great upscale Mexican food is presented in high-end restaurant fashion. Spent the night with my wife and another couple who all said the same thing about the food and service. Cocktails are on point as well made with fresh juices. After enjoying the sopes as an appetizer, I had the flank steak cooked to the right temperature and followed that up with a chocolate tamale with vanilla ice cream. Oh, i should also mention the homemade corn tortillas are exactly what you need to help clean the plate.

My family and I just had dinner here after finding it on the Michelin Guide website. WOW. Best Mexican we've ever had. You could tell the ingredients were quality, and the chef created amazing dishes with wonderful flavors. The green mole was a top favorite for me. The margaritas were amazing. The service was amazing. We will definitely be back next time we are in Chicago.

Wonderful ambience and friendly staff. Very cozy. Rotating, seasonal menus. Extensive margarita and dessert menu. The vegetarian entree I had was good, but I hope they add a few more options.

This has been my 5th or 6th visit to Sol de Mexico, and each visit ends with me saying “that was so delicious, we need to come here more often.” This hidden gem is found on Cicero meaning easy parking for a special dinner out. The chef explained the menu changes every 3 months, and the seasonality of the food can be found throughout the menu. Appetizers are hearty and filling - the ceviche was incredible. The carne asada was perfectly cooked and the black beans, guacamole, plantain and homemade tortillas that came with it paired perfectly. My husband had the poblano stuffed with shrimp, fish and scallops and highly recommends it. Very nice to see Seedlip based non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu, and the margarita options are fresh fruit and vegetable forward- the cilantro margarita is my favorite. Some reviews say this restaurant is pricey- only if you compare it to a taqueria. Any other nice restaurant - Upscale American, European, etc the prices are similar but the quality and flavor profiles far surpass what you’ll find at those places. This place seems family owned and you definitely feel welcome when you come here.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, pescatarian, vegetarian options, non-alcoholic cocktails

Just ok. It's not worth the trip out to this neighborhood. For a party of 5 with a reservation, they weren't set up when we showed up on time, so we waited to get seated when the place was empty. Don't expect chips and salsa here, you will get none. We ordered two appetizers, margaritas and entree each, I didn't think they were impressive enough to make me return. Beef lengua was good, the rice that came with it was good, tortillas was good, but the sauce was dry to me. Food came out slow and generally very slow service and not so friendly.

I was here for anbirthday party. Horrible organization, half of the guests ate first, by the time they brought food to the rest of us, the other half were finished. I wasn't even hungry anymore.
