Went for brunch. Food is good but nothing very creative. Had the French dip, really good but needed a bit more horseradish. The fries are amazing. Flight of cinnamon rolls wasn’t great value. Cesar salad was minuscule. Overall good food. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was a little close for me and too noisy.

Dining at Sophia Steakhouse is a consistently elevated experience that seamlessly blends classic steakhouse glamour with a fresh, contemporary energy. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance promises a special evening. While the atmosphere is a strong draw, the true star is the expertly executed menu, which we sampled across seafood starters and the main event: steak.
We began with two standout selections. The Colossal Tiger Shrimp were excellent, living up to their name in size and delivering a sweet, firm texture that paired beautifully with the accompanying sauce. Equally impressive were the Oysters Rockefeller. These weren't just standard fare; they were perfectly balanced—rich and buttery without becoming heavy, ensuring the briny essence of the oysters still shone through the creamy spinach and breadcrumb topping.
For the main course, the Black Angus Steak was the star, a testament to Sophia’s mastery of the grill. I specifically requested a medium-rare preparation, and the kitchen executed it flawlessly. The steak arrived with a deep, savory crust and was a perfect crimson from edge to edge inside. This level of precision is exactly what one expects from a top-tier steakhouse. The quality of the beef, combined with the expert cooking, made it a deeply satisfying and memorable dish.

The hostess was proactive about arranging a birthday dessert, the servers were engaging. The bussers kept prematurely clearing our wine glasses but that isn't really a complaint just more of a personal concern about waste. Of course the food was outstanding. Loved the potato & caviar, and meatballs! I added a steak to my salad, and it was a perfect balance, not an afterthought. But the standouts were desserts. Peanut Butter Pie and Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding were worth the calorie splurge!

I brung my guy here for his birthday. This was our first time being here, everything was 10/10 from the atmosphere, customer service, scheduling a reservation. Our server name was David, He was so nice super on point and made us feel more than welcomed. I highly recommend this place, I don’t think I could have picked a better place to celebrate his special day. Also, they let me bring stuff so they can set up the table and help me make his day special. Big thank you to the staff at this location.

The Wilmette location is pretty out of reach so when I found out they opened a Chicago location I didn’t hesitate. Service is still the same and the food remains a star. As a person who doesn’t eat much pork, I went out on a whim to try something different and I was blown away. Thick cut and seasoned well, I wish I had a better pic. Jonathan, our server was a superstar. He made great recommendations and even had a wine pairing that was phenomenal.

I’m usually a little wary of newer steakhouses in the city as I believe they often take a while to find their rhythm, but Sophia Steak completely impressed me. We visited on a Monday night and it still had a solid crowd and great atmosphere. The interior is absolutely stunning, the service was excellent, and the steak was truly one of the best I’ve had in Chicago in a while (for reference, my top benchmark is Bavette’s). The cocktails were also delicious. Definitely wouldn’t sleep on this spot.

Don’t go. This place was a complete disappointment, especially considering all the positive reviews. The decor was unimpressive, and the food arrived at an alarming pace. It seemed like the staff was trying too hard to be friendly, but their lack of training was evident in their table side manners and knowledge. Positives: the martini and shrimp appetizer was good and outdoor area looked pleasant. So if you go - sit outside and stick to drinks.
