Phenomenal food, that’s arguably the best in the north shore.
It’s hidden in a corner of the food court, and I’m thankful I did a lap of the court before I picked a spot to eat. It’s the best brisket sandwich I’ve ever had and the best BBQ I’ve had in Illinois. Recommend the greens, beans and rice, and cornbread.

Seems dishonest. When you ring yourself out at a tablet mounted on the counter you show an 8% charge for gratuity. When you get your receipt it shows as a service charge. Gratuity is optional a service charge is not. It's not possible to remove this charge. Who actually gets this money and how much of it goes to the employees? Gratuity is for service, the only service I received is them calling my name and handing me the bag no different than taco bell. Hardly worth a gratuity.

Got the turkey tips, brisket mac, red beans & rice and greens. My least fav was the Greens; my partner like them tho, theyre an acquired taste. Everything else was chef's kiss : )
Shout out to great customer service 👏🏾

This restaurant offers Thanksgiving meal pick up, - this year they were completely unorganized, unequipped/understaffed to handle the customer pick up. Only one person working, she was completely overwhelmed. Waited over 45 minutes a full 1hour later than predetermined time for pick up. Terrible experience.

It deeply saddens me to write this review, as I’ve been a loyal and devoted customer for the past several months. Every day, I eagerly looked forward to my lunch here, and the quality of the food made it worth every penny. The price was never an issue because the food was consistently excellent.
However, over the past two months, I’ve witnessed a significant decline in the quality of the dishes I once adored. The brisket arrives cold, the bread is often stale, and the gumbo is served lukewarm.
The staff is always friendly, but during a lunch rush, I simply cannot justify waiting 30 minutes for food that is no longer fresh or up to the standard I once cherished.
It breaks my heart to say this, but I will not be returning. This place had been my favorite for so long, and it’s incredibly disappointing to see it fall so far from what it once was.

I used to LOVE coming here last year. When I first found it, I was a regular. Food was never cold and I would order the same thing everytime - prime brisket sandwich with mac or cornbread. To say that this establishment has declined heavily in food quality and service - is an understatement. It has been come inconsistent everytime you order - brisket isn’t fresh, bread is hard or stale, and the cornbread tastes fake. This used to make me look forward to having lunch and now unfortunately, after chance and chance again - I will not be back. It’s a shame because of how good the food used to be.

Excellent food but a little pricey.
I had the brisket sandwich and loved it. You can tell it's made from quality ingredients. The side of mac and cheese was pretty good as well.
Those two items with a bottle water was almost $30 though. So as much as I enjoyed it, that's a hefty price to pay regularly.

I LOVE Soul & Smoke. My favorites are the smoked turkey tips & smoked chicken gumbo. Delicious every...single...time!
This location is within a food hall ans stays open ptetty late, 9pm. It's tucked into the far left corner. There is plenty of shared seating. It's more of a self-serve model, so you order on the kiosk/tablet and present your order # when called.
Now, they may run out of your favorites, so get there early or order online to be sure.
What we had:
- Grits (flavorful, creamy)
- Smoked Tips (a fave)
- Greens (pretty good, may have vinegar base)
- Mashed potatoes (I forgot to try these)
- Cornbread (buttery, soft)
Parking: Parking is tough. There is a taxi lane outfront to throw hazards on for a to-go order. For dine-in there is a slot of street parking directly across the street. And a few paid garages nearby.

Are these rib tips even cooked?! Ridiculous
This is a small shop that caters well to the Metra commuters at Ogilvie Station its a nice change from the Burger King and Taco Bell. I just had a half pound of the Turkey tips and they were very moist. Getting tasty food on the weekend can be a challenge on the train system. This was a pleasant surprise. It's located on the first floor on the far southwest corner of the food court.
Wheelchair accessibility: No issues with wheelchairs.

Absolutely delicious. My company has catered from them multiple times; the proteins are tasty and filling, pair excellent with the ample sauces available. But the sides are next level - if you're a fan of mac and cheese, and iffy about trying new spots, trust that they get it right. Not exorbitant amount of salt nor pepper needed.
And the people? Forget about it. Ask for Ayesha, she will get you RIGHT. Lovely to talk to, excellent customer service, and portrays the brand well.
Last, the chocolate cake is a MUST. It rests in the fridge, so gain optimal temp by resting it on your food in the bag, should be ready by the time you get home.
Enjoy!

Honestly, there were elements of my meal that were really impressive and some lacking in flavor profile.
My favorites were the chicken gumbo, the Mac and cheese, and the mashed potatoes. I got the side sampler and they were out of greens 😔 the Mac and cheese was seasoned really well and the cheese was creamy. I loved that they used corkscrew noddles. The mashed potatoes were great too, with a chunky texture. The gumbo had a nice spice from the andouille sausage as well. I think it was missing something but I couldn't place it.
The brisket was a little dry-- some parts of it had jersey like texture but it was overall good and had a smoky finish. The coleslaw was refreshing and such a palette cleanser. I loved that it had green apples for that nice tartness. It wasn't overly creamy and the cabbage and carrots were crisp.
The red beans and rice were okay but lacked flavor.
I also got the shrimp and grits. I got the half portion which only has three shrimp but they were perfectly cooked. The grits had the perfect texture but after eating the shrimp and the sausage I was left with a lot of grits with no sauce.
Perhaps my favorite thing thought was the cornbread muffin. It was absolutely delicious!

Soul & Smoke in West Loop offers amazing BBQ with incredible flavor. The brisket was tender and the mac and cheese was creamy perfection. The staff was friendly and provided fast service. The portions are generous, making it great value for the quality. Definitely a must-visit for comfort food lovers!
