I used to read and interpret the name quickly as “surroundings,” knowing it was good for the aquarium, encouraging people to eat and connect their marine life experience with the outdoors.

Some amateur man-child on the staff tried to put someone else’s soda on my bill and when I pointed out that the bill doesn’t look right, he said I should look at the menu. When I did and pointed out his mistake, he got all pissy like a little girl and refused to ring me up. 🤣😂😂

$7 for a stale pb&j with hardly any jelly. $16 for an equally unsatisfying chicken ceasar wrap that skimped on meat. That’s the “value” Shedd serves to families here, clearly taking advantage of their captive audience. Beautiful views of the skyline, but avoid the food if you can.

The Shedd Aquarian is a must see. Young kids will have lots of fun, while adults will learn a lot too.
The Sounding Cafe has great staff. I’d like to give a shout out to Marvin, Alexis, and Tawanda who made sure our kids had great food and were super friendly. Prices are also reasonable for a museum/activity location.

Seems expensive and not a lot of options. But looks clean

I recently visited Soundings Café, and it was a truly disappointing experience. The cafe has a terrible practice that I feel compelled to share. The menu listed a side of salmon at $7.95, but when I got my bill, I was shocked to see that I was charged $9.95. When I pointed out the discrepancy to the staff, they casually mentioned that the price had increased but they hadn't bothered to update the price tag. This is an unacceptable and misleading practice that leaves customers feeling deceived.

The service was equally disappointing. There was no apology or attempt to make things right—just a dismissive attitude that added to the overall negative experience. I wanted to give this place 0 stars, but unfortunately, that’s not an option. I won't be returning, and I advise others to avoid this place unless they enjoy being overcharged.

Marvin and Christiana were awesome. Quick with service and helping attitudes. Worth a trip to the Shedd just to enjoy their service. 5/5 and beyond. Appreciate you both!

Got hot chocolate and it was so sweet & did not taste chocolate in it. Drank a couple sips then threw out the rest!

Felt discriminated. Staff singled my Hispanic in-laws out for joining tables, did not ask the 5 or 6 other (white) families with joined tables to separate theirs for some reason. Instead, he waited till they left before separating their table. If management cares to review, this happened between 12:45 and 1:00pm on Oct 14 within view of multiple security cameras. Can provide a name and physical description if management reaches out to me.Will not be eating here again unless action of substance is taken beyond a mere apology.

The customer service that Marvin gave was fantastic! He has an amazing personality that truly brightens your day. He’s quick and efficient, however makes you feel like you’re the only customer in line.

Cold chicken strips, terrible CBLT sandwich. Rude server yelling at the lady behind me in line and mumbling response to my question. Ingredients in sandwich listed on menu not actually on the sandwich.Good view though

Frankly on points:- chicken wrapped in pita bread is spicy and terribly tasteless. Besides, no one warms her up even if you will ask.- the turkey salad was also not pleasing... it feels like it has been in the fridge for a week. - the only thing I liked was the strawberry smoothie - thanks to it, I left more than one star.

This quick service food cafeteria inside the Shedd Aquarium provided Average fast food sandwich items (such as ham & cheese sandwiches), but fast service to those of us rushing through this big museum. The convenience on a busy summer weekend is appreciated.
