Returning after years was like slipping into a comfy sweater, familiar warmth embracing me the moment I stepped through the door. Aromatic whispers of Penang curry, my old flame, were enough to set my mouth watering.Chives cakes kicked off the feast. Pad Thai, a classic symphony of noodles, and sweet-savory sauce, played beautifully on my tongue. But then, the spotlight landed on the undisputed star: their legendary BBQ pork fried rice. Each grain danced with caramelized BBQ pork. Sweet, salty, savory - a tango of flavors that stole the show.Of course, the Penang couldn't be ignored. Creamy, vibrant with spices, it transported me to tropical beaches with every bite. Tender beef sang in harmony with ginger, lemongrass, and chilies, leaving a lingering melody of deliciousness.Spoon Thai wasn't just a meal; it was a reunion with an old friend, a joyful tapestry woven with familiar flavors, friendly service, and vibrant atmosphere. I left with a full belly and a heart overflowing with warm memories and the promise of many more delicious returns.

Dietary restrictions: They were able to help me order with my allergy to wheat.

We had delivery so I couldn’t give a honest review on service & atmosphere. The food itself was decent quality and flavor. The portions on the pad see eiw were average. The beef on my order was cooked nicely and wasn’t chewy. My wife had the tofu option. No complaints. The crab raccoons were great in texture and flavor. Smaller then average portions. But for $6.95 I think there was 5/6 pieces. The pot stickers were also decent in flavor and texture. Not soggy. Right amount of crispy.Portion size around average. The dipping sauce was my favorite part. Tang, sweet, not really sour but maybe just more tang? It was good.

This is absolutely one of the best Thai places I've ever been to. I love this neighborhood spot SO much! The curry puffs and pad woonsen are just a couple of the amazing things you can get here!

I got the fried rice chicken curry and I have never tasted a Thai curry dish that was SO dry and plain! There was no flavor. No spice at all. The chive dumplings were disgusting, as if they just heated it up quickly for take out. Will definitely not be coming back! Hopefully I didn’t catch any food poisoning from this lackluster meal.

I went this afternoon to try their lunch special and Thai iced coffee. The hostess was friendly, but my spicy basil leaves with chicken and cucumber salad were a disappointment. The spicy basil leaves with chicken had no flavor and the cucumber salad lack seasoning, I had to ask the hostess for fish sauce to spice it up. The only thing good was the iced coffee. I probably won't come back again.

The beef soup towards the end of the menu is wonderful comfort food. The appetizers are high quality and exotic.A great break from the cold Chicago weather.

Really quiet place to get some food with friends. Food is moderately priced and tastes great. Great for take out or even for a small meal.

Take out experience was lackluster. I appreciated that the food was ready faster than originally indicated, but I still had a 20-minute walk to get there when I got a text that it was ready. The egg roll order was either filled incorrectly or it was a version of egg rolls I've never had - they were fine, but strange. Our all-vegetarian order had shrimp on one dish, which may have been an oversight on my ordering part, and chicken on another, which is definitely frustrating. Perhaps if you dine in you can give better instructions, but we found everything under-spiced and in general under-flavored. The pad see ew was gloopy, the green curry had no real flavor, and the tom kha gai was pretty bland too. Loved the gyozas!

I've been here and ordered takeout many times but last night we ate dine-in and ordered baby egg rolls, pineapple fried rice with shrimp, and the thai red BBQ pork. An incredible meal!! The egg rolls were soooo cute and crispy and good. The fried rice was perfection -- exact ratio of greasy to savory to egg-y to sweet. I get that fried rice order at a lot of Asian restaurants but Spoon's was by far the best I've ever had. The Thai red BBQ pork was the star of the show, though. The red sauce is peanutty and light, perfectly complemented by the brown dipping sauce. A great meal at a wonderful local place with kind serving staff too.

Absolutely delicious but just disappointed in the spicy. Thai spicy = white people spicy. Just lacking heat.
