I was lowkey disappointed with the food, but not the service. The bacon was very undercooked and soft—you could clearly see a lot of pink in it—and the potatoes were soggy instead of crispy. For the prices they charge, the food quality just didn’t match. Definitely overpriced for what you get.

Staff is so friendly and attentive! Even when the restaurant is fully booked, their service is still fast! Drinks arrive within minutes, food arrives at table 10-15 mins after ordering.
Pickup orders are just as fast!
Diner utensils, cups, and dishes are ALWAYS clean.

I love Stax. Everytime I have been it has been for brunch. The last time I took my mother, she is hard to please, and she throughly enjoyed Stax.
We had a caramel and vanilla hot latte, braised brisket hash, and I had the lumberjack skillet with mini pancakes. Everything was delicious.

The presentation of the dishes was very nice, and the portion sizes were also good. As for the flavor, the food was acceptable; however, my plate was completely cold, which made it very unpleasant. Everything was cold: the potatoes, the eggs, the vegetables, and the bread.
The French toast was also disappointing. It was overly soaked, making the bread extremely soggy, which completely ruined the texture and made it very hard to enjoy.
Lastly, the tables were far too small and uncomfortable. It felt as though we were sitting right next to other families, to the point where we could clearly hear their conversations. Every time we needed to stand up or leave the table, we had to apologize to the people next to us because it was impossible to move without invading their personal space. To make matters worse, we ordered three different dishes, and they barely fit on the tiny table. At one point, we even had to place our plates on another table.
The only positive aspect of our visit was the service. The waiter who attended us was very attentive, kind, and professional throughout our meal. The customer service was excellent, and it is truly the only thing I would highlight from my experience at this restaurant.
Overall, it was not a pleasant lunch experience, and I would not return to this restaurant.

I really tried to like this place but after my second visit, it’s definitely my last.
The first time my hubby and I went I really liked the atmosphere and the service was not great but okay and I can say the same thing about the food, asked for my potato’s extra crispy almost burnt and did not get that at all and it frustrated me that those simple instructions were not met.
The second time was the worst experience and definitely my last. We arrived got sat and ordered and that was that, I asked again for potatoes extra crispy again those instructions weren’t met and this time the eggs Benedict were more of a let down then last time lacking so much flavor over all. I wanted to mention this to our served but he was noooo where to be found the entire time we ate-after waiting and starving I decided to just eat completely unsatisfied and the waiter still no were to be found. After finishing and haven’t been checked on once I decided to just get up to the hostess stand to pay after waiting to pay our server finally pops out of no where with their hand-held to pay and as I was paying he stared down the device as I was punching in tip which was very rude and insane considering the poor service given.
Very disappointed, I don’t understand why the place is full a lot of the time with how food and service is.

I was in Chicago for three days and each morning, I left my Airbnb in Little Italy, and walked to Stax for breakfast. Each day the atmosphere was perfect, filled with noise, laughter, great conversation, and nothing but positivity. The food was consistently outstanding, and the coffee was wonderful. I am so glad, and so fortunate that I found this restaurant. The next time I go back to Chicago, which should be in about six months, this is where I’m going first. Thank you, Stax for making breakfast something I thought about all day long!
Stax. A little Italy gem that gives more each time. This is one of the unofficial breakfast joints for a lot of medical professionals. All of the meals here are amazing. I had the Spanish harlem which was phenomenal. Always recommend the mini waffles to go with it!

Stax is excellent for breakfast, highly recommend. For a cheat/treat, you can get the cinnamon roll waffles. I try to stay away from them because they are that good! Also the service is always fast and friendly. We go early enough that there isn’t usually a wait time.

Don’t remember what the name of my entree was sadly but it was a Benedict with poached eggs, avocado, English muffin, prosciutto and it came with potatoes, green peppers, and onions
It was AMAZING! Literally cannot stop thinking about how good it was:) best meal I’ve ever had at a breakfast place not disappointed at all. Mimosa and espresso martini were very good as well! A-1 service all employees were very sweet and quick to prebuss our table :^) couldn’t be more happy will have to come back
