Great place for breakfast. Menu has a lot of options. We all enjoyed our meal. Came here before our spa appointment which was close by. Also pretty good espresso martini

We ordered on delivery and the food is incredible! We will return! The pancakes were a standout for us but everything was delicious.

Came here for brunch with friends. Overall, it was okay but not very memorable.
I ordered the beef brisket hash and was really disappointed. The beef had no flavor and tasted like it had been boiled, though the potatoes were actually very good. My friend enjoyed the egg wrap, and my sister’s Taylor frittata (sub turkey sausage) was large and delicious. The veggie skillet was fine but nothing special.
We shared the cookie butter pancake, which was delicious and the highlight of the meal, but it came out first instead of last as requested. By the time we finished eating, it was cold and the ice cream had melted.
Service was a bit frustrating, our server was difficult to understand and seemed irritated when we asked her to repeat herself. Overall, decent food in parts, but not enough to stand out.

A hidden gem of River West. Everything on the menu is great and we stop here all the time. The best part is pretty much anything you order comes with pancakes (expect if your order pancakes).

Classic diner experience with amazing food. The pancakes are always reliable, the omelettes are great (Spanish Harlem is favorite) and the coffee flows freely. Healthy portions fuel you up after a long workout or before a big day. Service is good and they easily accommodate big groups. Recommend for a casual morning or afternoon!

Food was delicious and waiter was very attentive. Very clean nice breakfast spot. Came from the southside and met a Northside friend here for breakfast, I would go back again. Note: parking is a bit difficult in this area.

After my mom’s doctor’s appointment, we hit up Stax Cafe for breakfast since it came recommended. The vibe was cool—simple but nice. I walked in ready to find something to talk about, but they didn’t give me any real issues.
I was about to complain about the coffee prices, especially if I added flavor or non-dairy milk. Instead, I stuck with cream and sugar, and honestly? The coffee was fire. Didn’t need anything extra.
Both my mom and I ordered skillets, and they were on point. I tried to find at least one thing wrong, but the food was solid. Only thing I’d suggest is bumping the skillets up to three eggs instead of two. Besides that, everything was great.
The hostess was sweet, and our server—pretty sure his name was Frank—was amazing. His section was near the restrooms; we were seated up front near the end door. Nov. 24th. I’d definitely recommend Stax Cafe.

The food is fresh and fabulous. The service is excellent. But the people that work here are the stars. They are warm and kind. They remember their frequent customers and make them feel like family.

Stax Cafe is a cozy breakfast spot with a creative menu and plenty of options for both sweet and savory cravings. The pancakes and omelets are especially popular, and portions are generous for the price. Service is usually friendly, though it can get a little slow during the weekend rush. A great choice for a relaxed brunch or casual breakfast.

poor customer service! i wanted to order food for pick up,but they put on hold for 30 minutes. and it happened before too. you should guys hire someone who can take a the orders if your manager can’t handle it
Our server, Nayeli, was so fun and great to converse with as we were getting service. The food and service is great. 4 stars on atmosphere just because the music could use work: they played perfect by ed sheeran twice within the first 30 minutes of us being in the restaurant. However, Nayeli totally made up for it.
