I saw the good reviews and had to try! The Zatar bagel was new and very tasty, especially with chive cream cheese! Fair prices too. They have sodas and some bakery goods as well! Easy to order. Outdoor seating too!
Okay, here's the thing, their food is , imo , pretty great. But literally everything else drags this place down. The service to order inside is ungodly slow, sitting there is hard ( when it's not the summer) and they keep closing their online ordering.
I would eat there more, but steingolds keeps getting in the way of that. I would recommend it to people except that by they time they get their food , they could have easily walked somewhere else, finished eating, and been on with their day.
goods great, but often isn't worth the hassle, or you can't even get your food to take it away

Pricey but you get a big bagel and a lot of cream cheese! The place is always packed and a neighborhood staple. Worth checking out at least once.

Best BEC in Chicago
Excellent bagels. They'll scoop out the inside if you ask. Go early if you want to be sure to get your favorites before they sell out for the day.

We tried this place based on recommendations, but honestly, it was disappointing. The customer service was the biggest letdown—especially the manager on duty, who was cold and didn’t seem to care at all. As first-time customers, we had no idea our food would just be left on a shelf, so we ended up waiting forever, and no one even checked on us, even from the COUNTER which is couple steps away from us. The food was not the best, but with so many great spots in Chicago, this one just isn’t worth it. Definitely overhyped and overpriced so we won’t be back. I would rather support different business who cares about customer. Once was enough

Bagels were not fresh. Not crisp outside and not soft inside.

This place gives out stale, old bagels for their sandwiches and over roasts them so it’s hard to tell but it is still noticeable. And for $15 dollars each but you wouldn’t be able to know that by the only menu they have above the cashier. And speaking of the cashier, I don’t think I’ve had the chance to have such a rude attitude presented to me by the person taking my order while also presenting a screen asking for a tip for their “service”; I get that you’d rather be somewhere else besides working but if you’re at work, you shouldn’t be getting an attitude with me for just ordering food.
Also, since the place seemed busy and we had errands to run, we ordered for the food to be takeout but there was just a wall of pickup orders and delivery orders and no instructions on where to wait for our order so we just stood pretty much in the middle of the entrance area with other delivery people and preorder people. It was incredibly uncomfortable given the sea of door dashers checking each order against their phone whenever a new order was brought out. 15 minutes of this discomfort later, we were presented with these stale, overly chewy bagel sandwiches.
I had ordered a breakfast sandwich on everything with havarti cheese and sausage and I have tasted more flavor from a plain bagel than I did from this sandwich. All it did was make me hungry for something with actual taste; if there’s one good thing this place can do, it’s make me miss the bagels from New York enough to plan a trip out there, where they can make a delicious, hearty, and fresh bagel in a fraction of the time for half the cost. I’d suggest going to Chicago Bagel Authority on Belmont over here if you at least want a decent bagel nearby.

bagels are excellent. after a dentist visit i grabbed their classic lox bagel and a few bagel's to go. I'm really glad that I stopped there. everything was excellent. seriously some of the best bagels that I have had.The classic lox bagel really hit the spot. All the ingredients were really fresh and delicious.

While the sandwich is good. The 45 min wait for takeout is not worth it. You can get the same quality sandwich in the same area for cheaper and faster. Slow service, bland interior do not help. If you want to eat, order way way ahead and pray.

We ordered the Chickie Chick on an everything bagel, a Lox on an everything bagel and two coffees. The service was great! Nice and easy and the wait was great too, not too long.
The food was good but the bagels were tough and salty. The portion of the food was good and satisfying but we ended up paying $60 for everything and I don’t think it was worth the $60, I feel like it’s overpriced.
