The food is great. I grew up in Hegewisch and to have this establishment still operating speaks volumes of its reputation. It's the waiting that's horrendous. Went to dinner with family and friends and waited for 45 minutes until we put in our order and more time waiting for it to be served. Hire more waitresses. It's obvious the 2 waitresses running around needed help.
Great food. Meatloaf is delicious. Old school vibe where you walk in and feel like you are at home. The bartenders are swell ( Teddy, Heather, Al and the rest), the kitchen staff is helpful (Johnny and Jimmy). That is only surpassed by the genuineness of the owners. Stop by and enjoy all this establishment has to offer. You shall not be disappointed.
Wife & I went for the Friday fish fry-very well done. Not overly breaded, so while the fish was crisp, it was not greasy. Old neighborhood vibe, including tray of pickled beets, cole slaw and cottage cheese.
