Sugarcoat Sweets Bakery is award-winning chef Stephanie Izard's newest concept, a go-to bakery and special occasion sweets shop. "Sweets for the kid in you," is her slogan. Located at 820 West Randolph Street, on the side of her celebrated Little Goat Diner in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood, at North Green, it is open for takeout and delivery from 7 to 5 Wednesday and Thursday, 7 to 6 Friday and Saturday and 7 to 5 on Sunday. As is the case in her adjacent restaurant, Izard offers a creative and delicious approach to her desserts. How about cake for breakfast? Or pancakes for dessert? Or chocolate on chocolate on chocolate? Be sure to order Breakfast in Lima, Sugarcoat's most exotic cake creation. It features a sweet and savory plantain cake base (think banana bread, only better) layered with a coffee/lime caramel filling and chocolate ganache, finished with coffee-lime buttercream chocolate crunch. Breakfast never tasted so good. Pancake pie consists of sourdough cake layered with real maple syrup-infused buttercream and a crunchy and crumbly oat streusel topping. All the Citrus cake is layers of vanilla cake, lime and orange curd, vanilla buttercream and shortbread crumble. Who doesn't love chocolate? Izard's choco-lot pie is chocolate on chocolate on chocolate with creamy ganache topped with silky chocolate filling in a crunchy chocolate cookie crumble crust with chocolate brittle shaved on top. Still looking to satisfy your sweet taste-buds? Cookie Lover's Cake is your answer. Layers of brown sugar chocolate chip cake filled with chocolate crinkle cookie buttercream covered with a sweet soy candied pecan caramel with each layer topped off with chocolate chip, brown butter spiced pecan and crinkle cookie crumbles. For traditionalists, Izard's own version of carrot cake is on the menu, too.

They made a custom wedding cake flavor for me & my husband — Thai Iced Coffee. We went with the 3 tier cake option with minimal decoration and it turned out perfectly. We received lots of compliments. Their process was easy and straightforward too.

Chocolate crinkle cookie was delightful! Moist and brownie like. Definitely savored every bite, and my husband enjoyed the pancake cupcake. I expected the $6 small ginger tea (over ice) to be amazing. Very disappointed w my watered down lightly gingered drink.

I ordered a birthday cake for my friend and it was DELICIOUS! Everyone loved the cake. The frosting is somewhat "hard" which was unexpected, but I believe that's the style. Only complaint is that it was pretty expensive, but I understand that it was a large, custom cake - and it was delicious!

Sugargoat's breakfast in lima cupcake is sa-weet! I loved the plátano cake and cinnamon chocolate frosting. I'll be back to try their ice cream soon.

Loved my experience with Sugargoat! I had a custom order for my birthday and the team was amazing to work with! They were very detailed and helpful, did a great job on my custom cupcakes for my party! Everyone really enjoyed them and said they were the perfect balance of flavor and not overly sweet--would definitely go back!

Unsurprisingly, you can't go wrong. Tried breakfast in Lima, cheez it, pancake, and chocolate, and all were amazing. I was admittedly scared to try cheez it after reading all of the incorporated flavors (chocolate, peanut butter, cheez it, strawberry biscuik) but it was actually quite amazing. Super fun but also not too intense. Of these four, pancake was my favorite! The maple essence and oat crumble flavors/textures were just perfect. I will be back to try more as they rotate flavors!!

I was craving pecan pie one day and decided to order one from Sugargoat. I cut myself a slice with some ice cream/whipped cream and it totally hit the spot. I feel like so many times pie crusts can be dry/crumbly/flavorless but the crust on this pie is the complete opposite - sweet, savory and completely delicious. I froze the rest of the pie and told myself I'll only have one slice a week, but I'm not sure I'll be able to resist the temptation to finish it off sooner!

I hate leaving bad reviews but this experience was so BLEH. So here we go. Cupcakes are all odd names so you don't know what the actual flavors / ingredients are until you ask. Ended up getting the vanilla cupcake which you would think - classic / you can't mess it up right? WRONG! The cupcake was so bland it would've made Betty Crocker upset and the buttercream was so oily I literally gagged. Oh and I got a Vybes juice and the total for both was $16 lolllllllll Need I say more????

Loved that this little coffee shop was attached to Little Goat Diner. Super convenient, since we were on a waitlist for the diner but needed caffeine immediately! I was eyeing all the gorgeous, visually appealing cupcakes, and digging the neat flavors like pancake and tahini strawberry. I would've loved to get some, but I was saving room for brunch. I wanted to try the goat milk latte but they didn't have all the ingredients, so I went with the golden goat flat white (featuring oat milk & orange honey turmeric) instead. Small cup, but tasty drink, very well made coffee. The shop is small and gets crowded quickly, but service was fairly fast.

Overall, I thought this place was really good. I tried two kinds of cookies: - Spiced Pecan Brown Butter Cookies - Chocolate Chip Cookies The Spiced Pecan Brown Butter Cookies were good, although slightly too sweet. It was nice to have something different and unique. The Chocolate Chip Cookies were very good - traditional, rich and buttery. I saw the Chocolate Crinkle Cookie and that looked good, so I'd try that on my next visit.

Amazing! I love Stephanie Izard restaurants so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I love her bakery! I mean the dessert is good, my my review is really for the amazing customer service I received. I was in a tight bind to get a cake and her Cheezit Crunch Cake was perfect for this small party that I was throwing. The cake was the final component to tie my theme together so I NEEDED this cake! Thankfully, they were able to accommodate my cake order in the timeframe I needed it! The amazing service, kindness, and responsiveness really was just above and beyond. I haven't experienced such great service like this in so long! They made my day and the cake made my party a success! Thank you Sugar Goat!

I just finished brunch at Little Goat, which I have a separate review for (also 5 stars), so I had to stop by Sugar Goat for something sweet. Spiced Pecan Brown Butter cookies, the name description itself tells you you're in for a treat, were everything I hoped for. I previously had the privilege to have the Chocolate Fry Pie from an event Chef Izzard hosted, which is on the menu currently. Imagine the best chocolate milkshake you had and the perfect french fry you dip in said milkshake, but in a slice of pie.

My wife and I used sugargoat for our wedding cake. We went with the Cookie Lover's cake and it was absolutely delicious! The tasting was wonderful and they took great care to make sure we had selected the right cake. They were super helpful with making sure everything was delivered on time to the reception venue and they even ordered our cake topper off Etsy for us! We will most definitely use them for any cakes in the future.
