Sushi X is a hidden gem! The sushi is fresh and flavorful, and the vibe is super unique with Japanese animation playing on the wall and upbeat house music. I love that it’s BYOB—it makes dining here even more fun. Great place for a casual night out with friends!

Delicious sushi and friendly, excellent service! 😊 one of the best sushi spots around.
Major disappointment. Sashimi was bland, thinly cut, and a bit tough. The rolls were mixed. The special roll (spider) was good but the sake rolls were terrible. Decent fish but cold hard rice that probably came straight from fridge. It was nice to be byob for a small corkage fee. But overall a disappointing meal. On top of this: It was almost too noisy to have a conversation. This was partly because there are high ceilings and not much to absorb sound. Plus there was a rowdy group on the other side of the restaurant. And finally: why oh why have a 20 foot projection screen showing basketball on TV in a sushi restaurant of all places? If you’re looking for a serious meal or restaurant this is not it. A place to eat not-so-cheap rolls while drinking cheap beer—maybe.

This place never disappoints. My boo and I have been coming here for over 12 years, and it remains a favorite. Freshest, delicious sushi, wonderful service and cool atmosphere.

Best vegetarian sushi I have had in Chicago. They were nice enough to replace all non-veg ingredients with whatever we like. We had veg gyoza, godzilla, dragonfly and red crush sushi. everything was on spot.

Super nice staff. The place was pretty busy when I went. Their service was slow which the staff apologized for (I think they were short staffed that night). The food was good. Slightly pricey for the quality and portion size.

Great selection of rolls that I've never had before. Perfect if you are looking for something other than your regular sushi

I had the opportunity of finding this place while on a walk. I was immediately greeted by the Chef (Owner?) and seated.
The ambiance was cozy and inviting.
The menu (online) is a short list of known rolls with an addition fusion list as well.
Given the hospitable greeting I decided to ask the Chef to make me his choice of 4 rolls (while I added the Wasabi Cerviche to the list).
I am saddened that I can not recall the names of the rolls but all of them were well prepared, filling and fresh. The Wasabi Cerviche was tasty and different from traditional cerviche. Maybe a little dry, but definitely not a deal breaker!
I will eat there again!

Disclaimer: I am not a fan of sushi. I was told the sushi was delicious, but this review mainly covers atmosphere, service, and options for the sushi-averse who find themselves at a sushi joint because their friends and family love sushi. I went with a party of four, two teens and two adults, on a Friday around 8:00 p.m. We walked, but there is paid street parking in the immediate area outside the restaurant. It's across from a fire station and near a bridge over the expressway, so you may have to venture down a side street to park. Once inside, you immediately feel how intimate the setting is. There are about 10-12 small tables in a pretty small space, so be prepared to get close. We were greeted and seated right away by the server, who was really nice and calm even though he was the only server. He was also pretty knowledgeable about the menu items. We had to wait a bit to order, but that was fine because it gave us time to peruse the menu (have your phone ready to scan the QR code for the menu), check out the interesting decor (all black walls with interesting fusion artwork, and a large screen with a relaxing water and terrain landscape video on a loop), and discover the music playing (super-chill, loungy-vibe covers of popular songs). The sushi menu was compact and simple to order. Unlike some sushi spots that have entrees and side items to satisfy the non-sushi-eating tag-alongs, the menu is not inclusive, which was expected. Here's exactly what you'll have if you don't eat sushi: panko-crusted chicken breast strips with BBQ-ish red sauce, edamame, and a small bowl of rice, all of which were simply ok. We didn't have dessert, but there is mochi, lemoncello cake, and a chocolate peanut butter cup cake. Overall, this is a chill spot with no frills. Cool if you're just looking for a quiet spot to get a quick sushi fix.

Sushi X is a great spot. Service is always great. We Love their food. I would recommend all the rolls except the fresh crab roll, taste too fishy. The Godzilla is excellent.
