We went to Bar Tabú to celebrate a friend's birthday as a group of 7. We made the reservation for 1:30pm and expected to have the table for 3 hours per the reservation confirmation. We planned to do bottomless mimosas and we told the waitress and ordered the first round. When we didn't receive our second glass, we asked the waitress about it and she said “we are closing at 3 today and you can't do bottomless” after we already ordered them. We were charged for the drinks and were asked to leave at 3pm. We were rushed and service was very poor. If there is a private event going on, they should not accept reservations and then kick groups out early. Very disappointed.
We went on a Sunday for brunch seeing there was a reggae DJ and bottomless mimosas, so we were prepared for a good time! But unfortunately the music made it feel like a full on obnoxiously loud club. If it was packed and people were rowdy and there was sparkler bottle service, etc. I would completely understand! But it wasn't even half full and people were just chilling so the DJ was clearly not matching the vibe of the patrons. It just felt so unnecessarily loud and ruined the atmosphere. So sadly we had 1 drink and left. I'd give it another chance though cause it's so cute and the food looks good!
Food was off the chain! Chairs was really comfy! Bartender took good pictures. Thanks Tabu!!
Great value for Latin Restaurant week. Beautiful restaurant with excellent service. Definitely will return.
Bar Tabú is absolutely beautiful. The only negative part of our visit is that we had a reservation and had put in the reservation we were there for a bachelorette party. When we walked in the host or whoever greeted us seemed confused and didn't seem to know there was a reservation at all. He went to go ask someone else after confirming my name. While he stepped away someone else asked how many people and just sat us. Never asked what we were there for if we were celebrating anything. I wouldn't normally find that odd but literally everywhere else we went during our 4 day trip in Chicago asked us those questions. I'm assuming also based off our outfits that would be an easy thing to notice. That aside, the food was very good, the restaurant was very clean, and we loved the Photo Booth in the basement.
Came in for a good time and dancing, but the DJ totally missed the mark. Music lacked variety and energy—people were leaving early. He didn’t read the room or switch things up. Either step it up or step aside.

Everything was great they only play Latin music but I guess it’s what they are used to maybe mix it up a little bit.

My second time going and it's such a great time! The Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas are a hit!!!! Plus great music!
Had a great bday Brunch at Tabu. The DI was awesome and the food was delicious. The bottomless mimosas were a great deal for the price. The menu needs more variety. It has been changed and I feel the brunch selection is not as good as in the past.
Definitely more of a vibes place than a restaurant. You can tell it turns into a going spot and it's just for dining

Came for Sunday brunch for my friends bridal get together and I had a great time! Music was a vibe! Thank you Elizabeth and Daley for continuing to check in on us and making sure we had what we need. The bride enjoyed her afternoon and we all felt comfortable . We will definitely be returning for other brunch Sundays coming up.

Had a great time at Tabu! I chose this restaurant as a the maid of honor for my bestfriends bachelorette brunch. SERVICE: The service did start off rocky. We were seated for almost an hour with dry glasses. That was disappointing and I let the manager know the brunch was very important to me and my guest as many had not been to tabu or Chicago. This was not a testament to the server we had. She was great and had a great attitude however she couldn't handle a 10 top with all the additional tables she had. The manager Daly jumped right in and got us to a good point. FOOD: 10/10. The pork belly tacos were absolutely amazing. Most of the table had that or the steak and eggs. No complaints. DRINKS: we ordered shots outside of the bottomless mimosa (the entire table had to purchase even with non-drinkers seated). I was under the impression the Champagne was watered down, I assumed this based on solely seeing ice in the carafe, as the taste wasn't necessarily compromised but also I've never had 8 glasses of champagne and still been that sober. The bottomless mimosa were tasty and reasonably priced but I would not get it again. AMBIANCE: it's soo cute in there! The Photo Booth at the bottom of the place is a great add and the overall aesthetic of the restaurant was gorgeous however it was 95 degrees outside and likely 85 inside. It was extremely hot upstairs and the only way to cool down was going downstairs. The place was very clean and the bathrooms were well attended to. Overall I would highly recommend and would return despite any shortcomings. The staffs attitude and want for us to have a good time meant the world!
Cute atmosphere, small menu, priced for the west loop.
I've given Tabu a 3 based on the limited variety, the food was good, nothing that wowed.

The Caesar salad was not to my liking I don't think people should be eating lettuce boats. The steak was good drinks was amazing. Staff was very nice.
