I go to this spot at least four times a month. The food is affordable but the quality is top notch, made fresh when you order, and the portions are generous. (Not like chain restaurants who skimp on the meat.) My favorite dishes to order are the steak and fish tacos if I'm dining in. I grab a chicken or chicharrón tamal if I'm running after the bus. I recently tried their quesabirria and it's awesome. Their soup is only available on weekends. The people are nice and friendly. The place is clean.

The posole rojo is fire 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
Came on a Saturday evening around 5/6pm and my bestie and I were the only ones in the restaurant.
We ordered tacos de Al pastor and cecina dinner (choice of two tacos) and came with rice and beans for $11.99. Great value. Both tacos were sooo good and very flavorful. 😋
The posole rojo $12.99 was absolutely the best posole I have had in a long time, and a great portion size, it was so filling. One bowl is enough for two to share we were stuffed!!! I've tried a place in Pilsen before for posole and it wasn't that great but here it is spicy, tasty, and the pork is falling off the bone tender! The broth has a rice deep smokey flavor from the chiles. 🤤🤤🤤🤤And it comes with garnish (cilantro, onion, red Chile) and fried crunchy tostadas. We absolutely loved the posole and highly recommend.
I would have given 5 stars but we were given plasticware for the taco dinner but when we got the posole we had a stainless steel spoon which I appreciated because I didn't want to use a plastic spoon to eat hot liquid. I wish they would have provided us with stainless steel utensils when we had the taco dinner because that dish was ready first. Please provide this as an option next time for your customers!!! I took off one star for that very reason, I dislike using plasticware especially because it's toxic for our bodies. Also, the other reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I left close to a 15% tip when paying but when we received our first order of food, the taco dinner, the waiter did not bring it to our table, we had to go to the counter to retrieve it. It was only a few feet away so we didn't mind but if I'm leaving tip for the service it would have been appreciated if he brought it to our table. When our posole was ready the other male waiter, not the same as the first time, but a different guy, brought it directly to our table which was nice since I did tip fairly on the bill.
For drinks, we ordered the horchata is also very good and not overly sweet, $4.59 for a large. Honestly, I would drive here just to have their posole again and I live in Pilsen about a 20-30 min drive.
Everything was fresh and made right there as we ordered. Delicious! The restaurant is small but clean and the music is nice, they play a mix of Spanish and American classic hits.
FYI it's located on a busy street so it'll be a bit of a challenge to find parking, luckily we found a free spot right away.

I have searched all tho Illinois for this authentic top tier Mexican food.
Horcharta is next level has a lot of flavor and warmed me up on a cold day. Had it at so many other restaurants with it tasting watered down. Got a al pastor tostada that was stacked perfect and just banged. Then I followed it up with a steak burrito and let me tell that thing was a burrito for the gods. Crispified shell perfect layering and steak with flavor busting in my mouth. Like what bro let's goooo. Toilet will suffer a tko later but it's worth it.10000%

Has to be my favorite spot for authentic mexican tacos in Lincoln Park. Fell in love with the al pastor here. It is marinated perfectly, compared to other places that are too dry. But this place hits the spot every time! Always great for takeout. The red salsa is very addicting. Highly recommend

I went in here to try and charge my phone when looking for a rave I never found late one night towards the end of a trip where I was pretty broke...counting change even.I was not able to tip when I ordered a soda and quesadilla to go and then my bus did not come.Nobody knew which direction was west away from the lake (I do not believe this part). Nobody knew English either(I also do not believe this part). ANYWAY.
HOWEVER... I wish I could have made it back in the morning with money for a full meal and a tip because not only were they very sweet and let me charge my phone but the food was PERFECTION. THE BEST.DRINKABLE SALSA IT WAS SO GOOD.HOT.TANGY.JUICY STEAK.GOOEY CHEESE.YES.10/10 EAT HERE PAY THEM YOU WILL LOVE IT!♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

Good prices, food is good but not exceptional. Service could be a little more attentive but they are definitely fast with the delivery and making of the food.

Your typical Mexican taqueria. Food is great. Crazy how tacos are almost $5 each now. Service is good, staff is cool. I dont come here often because i live on the southside but have eaten at this place over 10yrs now.

Tiny portions for the price and nothing to write home about, even the vaunted pastor. Really disappointing.

They have a Hit Hit on the Nacho supreme?
Surprisingly one of the best taquerias in the city. I found a bunch of California surfer DePaul dudes in there expecting the worst but the tacos were quite exceptional. We had steak, lengua and chorizo and all were exceptional. Highly recommended!
