I've tried all of the highest rated sushi spots in Chicago and Takibi absolutely takes the #1 spot for me. It's everything you want from sushi ... fresh and delicious ingredients prepared in front of you by an expert in his craft. The head chef is incredible and their sense of hospitality is amazing. It's a small location with a lot of heart. Takibi has been a place I've gone with my partner to celebrate, to mourn, or just to have a nice night out. If you haven't been you have to go here.

I ordered the sashimi set with rice and soup for $40. Some of the fish tasted great; the salmon, white tuna, and scallop. However, the others were pre-salted and tasted flat (not fresh). The vinegar rice was okay; it had a hint of spoiled taste to it. The miso soup was pretty good, but could use a bit more salt. Overall a mediocre experience compared to Lawrence Fish Market.

I love Takibi and have been coming here for a few years. Living right around the corner helps of course. It’s a small and simple yet quality restaurant and you can tell the owners are passionate about sushi and giving customers a good experience. The food is always so delicious and I love that they’re BYOB. It’s the best place for a date night and a bottle of wine or to take a couple of friends to catch up.

Such a hidden gem! Some of the most unique sushi rolls in the area. High quality and clearly made with love and care. I can't believe it took us so long to try this local RP spot. Will definitely be back!

I just discovered this place while looking for a sushi place to have lunch with a friend. We got the 4-6 pm salmon maki lunch special ($14) which included two different kinds of well-proportioned makis and it was awesome! It was simple but delicious because it was so fresh. Definitely coming back.

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. Truly my favorite sushi spot and no other place i’ve been to can even compare to Takibi. The chef/owner has an eye for detail and recognizes the importance of good service. The rolls are always amazing but the nigiri is deliciously paired with small toppings that complement the flavors perfectly. I haven’t tried any of the ramen, however, if it’s anything like the rest of the food, i’m sure it’s amazing.

Ramen was delicious. A different broth to the standard tonkatsu, but wonderfully rich tasting and the pork was plentiful and wonderfully marinated.
