We got the mixed grill platter and the aloo gobi. Both were very delicious and fresh tasting! I will definitely be coming back for more of the chicken from the grill platter, it was to die for with the tikka masala sauce.

I’ve ordered take out from here many times. I have yet to dine in, but the atmosphere of the restaurant seems very cozy and relaxed. Highly recommend the lamb saag.

We ordered delivery and it was all quite delicious. We got mutter paneer, chana masala, veggie samosas (they were quite salty), chicken pakora, and naan.

If you're looking for a respectful and energetic venue, then Tandoor Char House is the place. The atmosphere is very upbeat and inviting. The the staff are very attentive, professional and courteous. The owner made an appearance quite a few times, and is very down to earth. And did i mention the food, this place takes a unique approach on Indian cuisines, and i absolutely love it. I've been ordering for quite a few years now, and can i say that the Tandoor Char House Never Disappoints💪🏾🔥

Amazing service, food, and experience. Can't wait to share this with my boys next time.
Wonderful service and atmosphere. We ate on a Sunday evening. It wasn’t very crowded but everyone was so attentive to us nonetheless. Music playing in the background had a great vibe. The food was fantastic and plentiful. We took so much home that it will last us for a couple of work lunches (and I did eat a lot at the restaurant itself!) Highly recommend.

Came for restaurant week and was very excited about it. Ended up waiting over 1.5hr for our meal, no updates or apologies. Multiple people got up and walked out after either 1. never getting seated or 2. Sitting around waiting for the chance to order or get their food. All this wait only for our meal to come out lukewarm and out of order. Got our main dish first, then appetizer, then the rice for our main dish. Not sure if this was an off night but since when is this acceptable service? Also slightly infuriating to be sitting there waiting for food and the only thing coming out of the kitchen is take out orders.

I’ve visited this location nearly five times with friends and family, and this time, I brought my husband for the first time. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to my previous experiences. The veggie samosas had an overwhelming amount of garlic, so I asked the server to take them back.
We also ordered the lamb biryani, but the presentation was off—about 90% of the dish was lamb at the bottom, with only 10% rice on top. Instead of the expected mix of rice and meat, we ended up with heavily sauced lamb and barely any rice. Biryani is traditionally served with the meat and rice combined, but this version was just drenched lamb in sauce.
The only highlight was the chaat curly fries, which were just as fantastic as on my previous visits.

Our experience was so bad here that at one point, we wanted to warn other couples we saw coming in to leave.
My partner and I did the pre-paid tasting menu for Valentine’s Day so we were stuck here for dinner. A few notes and suggestions below:
1. A tasting menu can’t be ambitious if you don’t have the ability able to deliver on it. We were seated at 8 PM and did not receive our first course (which was really the second course because we never even got the first course but didn’t bother complaining because we knew it would take another 20 minutes to arrive) until after 8:30. We didn’t receive our mango lassis until after 9 when we had to ask the hostess to bring them. Some courses were just way too big - a tasting menu should not have so much food leftover that everyone is taking home leftovers (though I appreciate them). The second and third courses were good but the curries in the fourth lacked salt. A very obvious focus on quantity over quality was shown here.
2. My partner and I both have significant experience in the restaurant industry and could tell that restaurant management here was severely lacking. Our initial waiter was unapologetic and had an attitude when we brought up that we had been sitting for 30 minutes without even being acknowledged.
The restaurant should’ve been set up in a way where everyone who was doing the extensive tasting menu could be reached and served easier. If you realized you were understaffed but overbooked, you should have a plan to be apologetic to those who pre-paid over $100/table and at least get pre-made appetizers and drinks out to tables within the first 20 minutes in a staggered delivery. Serving people food and drinks should’ve been the priority for all staff (which should’ve included management) in the restaurant rather than resetting or polishing empty tables in front of hungry people.
Going forward, I hope this restaurant plans appropriately for what is obviously one of the biggest restaurant nights of the year in Chicago. The food was overall delicious but the experience was so bad that we agreed we would’ve actually preferred less food in exchange for better, faster service. We did not get home until almost 11 after spending almost 3 hours being frustrated and hungry.
