We're visiting from out of state and wanted to enjoy a nice meal after landing and leaving out things at the lodging. Came here while exploring the neighborhood and our kid liked it so much we came back the next night too! Very kind staff, cozy atmosphere. I'm sure we'll be back next time we visit Chicago!

Had the Omakase which was fabulous! Service was excellent and dishes were staggered for a leisurely and lovely dining experience. We will be back! Thank you!

Top notch Sushi and our server Aidana was amazing! She has a wealth of knowledge about the menu. She’s the best.

My mom was sick so I ask my niece to buy shrimps and vegetables tempura, but this is what tempura’s?? Looks like. I thought it was from grocery food corner, but it’s a restaurant!! I have no words to say just disappointed and embarrassed this is not quality of restaurant food I was going to throw away, but I tried to let them know so I call restaurant manager, he haven’t call me back yet. The texture of oil what they used it seems like hadn’t been changed in a month?! 3 other foods were just okay but these tempura worst food ever I never ever seen tempura like this before now time to throw in the trash 🚮

even tho the restaurant low key wasn't that busy when we got there, they took a lil bit to get us water, but ts mad chill because we didn't really care. Prices a lil bit on the high side for our wallets but that's just us. Food was good and our waiter was so happy and chill and split our bill 5 ways cuz we asked nicely. Shoutout to my mom

Neighborhood spots should thread the line between affordable and very good quality. Tanoshii does both very well.

Sushi was fresh and delicious, and the preparation of the Nigiri was intentional and delicious. Also the spicy salmon roll, typically something that is a throwaway roll at places, was very flavorful and actually spicy.

More importantly the atmosphere is relaxed and allows for those who are not as familiar with sushi to get acclimated. I highly recommend coming here.

Tanoshii never disappoints! The food is so beautifully prepared, presented, fresh and delicious. We so enjoy dining here and look forward to our next visit.

Had a great experience here. The food was delicious (especially loved the miso soup, tempura, and spicy tuna roll) and the staff was so wonderful. They were understanding that we were dining with kids, very attentive, friendly, and fun! Would return again! Shout out to Ray and the rest of the team!

Miss Mike! Food quality for sushi and the rolls are the “same” but don't taste nearly as good.

Truth be told, I might have given a higher rating if we had not done the Omakase. It was just specialty roll after specialty roll (after the first two appetizers), and we are not specialty roll people. I imagine if we could have kept on eating we would have gotten to nigiri, but there were too many rolls. I tried to let them know we weren't into the specialty rolls by saying we don't like mayonnaise or cream cheese or spicy rolls. That did not deter them. We may have gotten less of that, but I don't know. I also said that I don't like madai (sea bream), but that also did not deter them--and that was the only fish I tried to take off the menu. The quality of the fish was very good. The crafting of the sushi was fine. As indicated, the service was good. Bottom line: If you like specialty rolls, maybe the Omakase is for you. If you don't, you might have a better time just ordering what you like off the menu. Oh, and it is BYOB, and that is a plus.

The food took entirely too long and when it arrived was sloppy. The rolls did not stay together and were bland. Would not recommend a visit.

I haven’t even started eating yet but I was disappointed that they didn’t serve alcohol so the owner gave me one from his stash lol. But I’m sure I’d enjoy the sushi! I

I hope my experience was a one off since we’ve been here in the past but today was just not good. We had a few appetizers, a kamikaze roll, a few vegetables rolls and the toro truffle roll. The toro truffle roll was a complete miss, I couldn’t believe that I spent $30 bucks for a roll that tasted spoiled.
