Don't let the mediocre presentation fool you because despite the way they slice and roll, sashimi dinner and wasabi roll surprised us with it's freshness. Recommend sticking with the special rolls because wasabi roll was just way better than the rainbow or chicago roll. Seared tuna was ok and it looked much better than it tasted. Mixed flavors with sesame oil never gave us the wow sensation.Service was awesome.Byob charge is 3 per person. They have a strict way of eating the special rolls without soy sauce or ginger.

came here last night, on a saturday nightit was so packed! but the servers was on the flygive us everything we need just when we neededvibes was warm and homey small local restaurantsat on the bar and let the chef made the food for you (omakase way)mind you, omakase is never CHEAPand eating sushi in GENERAL is not CHEAP tho not expensive if u just order from the regular menuwe had 2 signature appzfish n chips & seared tuna saladlemme tell u those were so yumm and refreshingafter that we had 2 signature rollsfresh wasabi roll & salmon truffle rolleverything was fresh and the sauces was something i've never tried beforeand the sashimi cut pretty thick, the otoro just melt in your mouthafter that we had toro truffle roll their "todays special"it felt like i was eating wagyu beef tho it was all fish in it!and the server gave us complementary mochi ice creamat the end our bill was only $150 something for 2 pplwhich is not expensive at all for omakaseand we left with a full belly, which i've never had after having omakaseand (psst! dont forget to bring your own bottle) that was the "cheapest way" part, compare to buy $30-40/bottle of wine in a restaurantwill obv come back!

This place was recommended by friends so we were excited to try their omakase dinner. Upon being seated at the bar, we were immediately thrown off by the ambiance and presentation - the playlist was akin to the rock music you hear at a supermarket, the fish was pre-sliced in plastic bowls within the sushi bar, and the restrooms were lackluster with paper towel rolls on top of the toilet to dry your hands. Our waitress explained to us that omakase starts with their signature spicy tuna salsa chip, which was essentially flavorless tuna, lemon juice, tomatoes and avocado that she put on plastic gloves to mash and mush together before packing this concoction into an unappealing pink mound on top of a tortilla chip. We then received sliced peppercorn ahi tuna on top of a bed of lettuce which was nice, but pretty small. After that, we shared two rolls, which were pretty bland and similar to each other. Both had imitation crab and fish that tasted pretty similar to what I would get at a supermarket sushi bar. My husband and I decided to cut our losses and tap out before we ended up spending too much money on what had thus far been a pretty disappointing meal. Our waitress was disappointed and said that we would have received sashimi and nigiri next- I would’ve loved to have had that first, since the initial rolls they gave us made a pretty awful impression. To top it all off, we were shocked to see our final bill was nearly $120 - apparently the rolls we hated so much were $30 each! Will not be returning here again and would not recommend.

This place is amazing. I come here almost every week for nearly four years and still this place is incredible !Many new employees work here, but these new employees are very friendly and helpfull in serving guests, their sushi is still top notch! even as there is a new sushi chef work here and I knew it. Their kitchen food also looks better when it comes to presentation and taste. For all who want to come to this place and see this review, I hope you guys didn't miss this restaurant! You won't regret it! I promise!

Great service. Waitress was on point. A fly on the wall, knowing what we needed, when we needed it. Excellent sushi. Nice vibe. BYOB, so can definitely save money on drinks. Loved my experience and will be back.

The food is consistently excellent. Such high quality at a reasonable price is rare. I wish they would adjust the lighting- too bright and kind of harsh for a relaxing dinner. And the service was really off. We were put in a corner and forgotten. But we'll be back because the food is fantastic!

Tanoshii {Andersonville) was very busy. Our party of 2 had 7:30 reservations and were seated at the bar (by request), shortly thereafter. As far as ordering, and after talking to the chef, we decided to trust the team that evening as opposed to enjoying our meal from the menu like most places. This can be an expensive proposition, depending on appetite, be prepared. As it turns out, deciding to trust the capable hands of the staff there that night was the right choice, we were not disappointed. Daniel was our chef, and Noah the Sous, Dika and Alberto the assistants. All 4 worked as a flawless team. The incredible theater that took place in front of us has shown us a new experience in sushi. Never seeing a menu, never using soy sauce, and never touching the green horseradish that Americans call Wasabi - we put our trust into Daniel and he delivered. If the translation of Tanoshii is "pleasant", it had been that and more. Chef Mike, owner and operator of Tanoshii, I would like to propose new names for future restaurants you may open... If you could please translate: "Mouth orgasm" and/or "Brilliantly delightful".Parking: Arrive early, you will need to find parking.

Tanoshii never fails for lady dates, group dinners and anything in between. Chef Mike's omakase offerings are otherworldly. The servers are always kind, friendly, and fun! Cannot recommend this spot enough and love that it's BYOB!
