Fantastic food. Fantastic flavors. The service was beyond awful. They made us late for the theater. We gave them plenty of time. We told them what time we had to leave. We were told that would be absolutely no problem. The restaurant was empty when we showed up, and they still didn’t have our table ready and had to wait 10 minutes. It took another 15 minutes for the waiter to even show an interest in taking an order. We were served in courses. Then there was a long pause between courses, and the last two came out at the same time. One was Stone cold. It had sat in the kitchen being ignored by the waiter. The drinks took 10 minutes to arrive, again with a restaurant that was empty other than for our table.

Basically, I was meeting someone here. I picked away from the bar. My date came before me, and they sat her closest to the Kitchen and the bathroom. I am looking forward to the night ending. It didn't even have a restaurant feel. More of a TGI Fridays feel. Restaurant is fine, get there before your guests and you'll be fine. Don't be directed. My date didn't know better. My fault was to not get there way before my date, so they told her what works best for Tanta.. Not Thrilled. Service. And food Good. Ambiance should have been different.

I just hope the service had been as good as the food. They seated us at a small table when all the couches were available. I also don't need people to teach me for which dish I should use chopsticks

Food is excellent. Disappointing occurrence though, I made a reservation a full week before, and we were led to a tall table right next to the commotion of the bar, which I outright rejected. We were then politely and correctly offered a proper table. Also, music was WAY TOO LOUD! It was very a busy night (on a Wednesday), which is why I assume the service was spotty.

Very disappointing service. They brought our side vegetable before the main courses and I had to ask our waiter to check on the main courses after waiting at least 20 minutes. When they brought the main courses, the potatoes were cold. The waiter said the manager was going to stop by to apologize but they never stopped by.

Excellent food, except that there were NO Picarones for dessert! Love the ceviche limena, the causa, chicken anticuchos, arroz chaufa and lomo saltado (although the meat was a tad tough). Great time with friends!

Tanta blew us away. We took a chance (one of us had been to Lima, Peru as a teenager, so, why not?). The menu was highly original and was expertly explained by our waitperson. He helped us select a handful of dishes that would allow us to experience the range of the chef and of Peruvian cuisine. We loved every dish, but one was especially exceptional: Tiradito Apasionado (ceviche ahi tuna with passion fruit sauce, pickled veggies & more). Just do it. Go to Tante. There is something for everyone on the menu.

Outstanding dinner at Tanta. The waiter was quite knowledgeable about the menu and guided me through first and second courses including wine pairings. Incredibly deep and delicious flavors in both plates as I've come to expect from Peruvian food. Fantastic experience and look forward to coming again.

The atmosphere, the service and the drinks are outstanding, but the food is only okay, especially for a Chicago restaurant, and especially given the extremely high prices (even now). We won't be going back!
