Every so often, you find yourself driving right by a place you've driven by countless times. Then, on a whim, you go in and give it a try. I did just that yesterday. I went into Taqueria La Esmeralda. On the surface, this little eatery is unassuming. The food, however, was outstanding. I had chicken tacos. The taste was just wonderful. It wasn't sitting in a warming station, it was cooked right there. No frills here. I wasn't really enticed by the atmosphere. Still, I did get the sense that the one-man operation (at least what I saw) was all business. I wanted something fresh and tasty, and that's what I received. Just excellent food. The ingredients are really fresh and perfectly seasoned. Sitting in the heart of Little India, and surrounded by some amazing Indian restaurants, is incredible Mexican food. Who knew? Fresh, well-priced and clearly made with pride. I will be going back there again and again.

The steak is delicious. I order tacos & tortas regularly from here. All sides are good & generous. The staff is friendly and fast. When I’m in a time crunch I pick up sides to complete dinner at home. Oh and the salsa verde is my favorite!

Food is alright the prices change almost every week ridiculous their almost $4 a taco for small tacos!
Their pambazos was great, and their horchata was so good I wish I could have it every day.
