Was there on Sept 13, 2025. Make sure to keep an eye on the charges. I was charged for a liquidado which I didn’t order. Plus, they automatically charge gratuity for parties of 4 or more. I had already left the tip on table and the lady said “oh well, it says we charge gratuity on the menu”. I found the staff to be rude.

This place made me feel like I was right inside my moms kitchen. Let me start by saying the salsa with chips here is so delicious. I usually am not much of a salsa with chips gal when it comes to restaurants like this. The chips were crispy, the salsa was perfection and just so savory and spicy! The green salsa was like a combo of roasted green peppers with avocado it was my favorite and the red salsa was the traditional tomatoes/pepper salsa. I wish we had them here in Des Moines. The service was amazing too. Just like at home they greeted us right away and told us to sit where we would like. The place also smelled so clean.
I ordered to drink the carrot/orange juice. Made me feel like I was in the markets in Mexico picking up a fresh juice! To eat i ordered a steak, a tripa taco and a ceviche shrimp tostada. Needless to say this made me feel completely satisfied by the end. The shrimp ceviche tostada was a a generous amount and it was mouth watering good. The asada taco was delicious. The tripa taco was made how I like it crispy and just so good. The lady asked if we wanted the tripe soft or crispy which was so nice that they ask because everyone has different preferences on how they like their tripa. My mom ordered a order of the tripa tacos and she had them soft. My mom was so impressed by this place and that says a lot from a women who is a amazing cook herself.
Anyway this is HIGHLY recommended if you love AUTHENTIC Mexican food. I will DEFINITELY be back here. I'm already planning my next trip!

I had a very disappointing experience at El Tapatio. We were a group of 4, and when it was time to pay, I was only given the slip to sign and add a tip. What they didn’t tell me is that a 15% gratuity had already been added to the bill. I only found out after I specifically asked for the detailed receipt — which they don’t provide unless you request it. Because of this lack of transparency, I ended up leaving a double tip.
This feels dishonest and unfair to customers. Tips should never be hidden in the total without clearly letting people know. This practice left me with a very negative impression of the restaurant, and I would not recommend it.

I ordered there street tacos it comes with 5 grilled steak tacos for $10.50 can't get that nowhere else... and they were way better than alot of places. A must try. Atmosphere very nostalgic 👌... will be going back...

I love this place I come here for lunch on Friday’s mostly and the tacos are top notch the 5 baby tacos for $10 to be exact. I love the customer service I receive each and every time I visit on my lunch break from (Patricia) the cook is the best. This place is a 10 out of 10 highly recommend tell them Chiquita sent you.
I think i have rated this place in the past, but this is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE TAQUERIA. THE STEAK TACOS ARE FYYYYYYYEERRR...so damn good. I live in the south suburbs and this place is so worth the trip. Food, service and atmosphere TOP TIER!!!

The food was a HIT, and it was large portions. The customer service was great from the beginning. Steak burrito, chicken burrito, and ground beef tacos. Everything was delicious. I will definitely be back!

I've been in Chicago for a long long time and usaully hit up Lapasadita or Las Asadas as the go to Taco spots North of the United Center, Shout out to El Cid too. Lapasadita while very very good, is way outta hand with the price, outta control. If you order Door dash they are like $7 a taco. I gave Tapatio a try and saw they have Lomo tacos, niether Asadas or Pasadita have it. It's so good, I was blown away. This my new spot, and it's less money than the other two. I'm telling you, try that Lomo and you won't be sorry. Sauces are flame too.

The place is large, the atmosphere is inviting, the service was excellent because the server was attentive. The food was beyond what I expected, I got the (3) queso birria. Prices were fair. Great place to go with children, family and friends.
