If you want a legit Mexican spot this is it. An amazing crew is here to help you with the dishes and authenticity of Mexican cuisine. They literally have every dish here. There's also a huge family atmosphere here, with employees hugest long time guests and giving out free food to the homeless after hours. Overall, this resturaunt is the epidamy of Mexican cuisine. Although the food is made more of a fast food style rather than a resturaunt, it's still great food. 9/10. :)

These were the most disgusting and disappointing tacos I've ever ate in my life. They rush the food. I know they're busy and all but I'm not the one to be paying for half cooked food. They don't cook the tortillas all the way through. It's always the same story with them with the tortilla. The meat isn't perfectly cooked to that "asada" standard. The al pastor was terrible and soggy. They may be able to fool all the white and black people eating there but as a Mexican, these tacos are pure trash. Aside from being small, the quality and food preparation is half-assed. They use to be good years ago. There's nothing worse than a taco where they tortilla isn't warmed up properly and soggy. Next time I'll surely be going to Atotonilco up the street because Comales is a total miss. I'm surprised they're as popular as they are with their terrible tacos. I'm upset to have paid over $40 for trash food.

The area is old school urban, but chic. The aura was relaxing, th air was filled with delicious flavors. The staff was friendly and attentive. I haven't eaten here in a long time and coming back to chi city I was a bit disappointed in the food. Either my taste buds changed but it didn't taste as I remembered growing up. The tacos such as, the tortillas were a bit to stiff, the meat was way too salty, and chewy rather than the meat melt like butter. The salsa was flavorful and spicy my favorite. My asada gordita was the only thing that was a hit. The Carne was nice and soft still a bit salty but super cheesy and the beans were tasty. The Agua frescas are amazing especially the horchata definitely recommend.
Overall experience would eat here again and re-try different foods.

I moved from Chicago to San Antonio 14 years ago, and whenever I come back to visit, this is one of my first stops. My go-to is the taco arriero, with carne asada, pinto beans, nopal, onion, cilantro and salsa yucateca on a full-size corn tortilla. It gets really busy but the kitchen cranks out the orders pretty quickly!
Parking: Parking during the day can be a bit of a hassle, but gets better in the evenings
