If you are looking for more than just a meal, you must check out this sushi spot! From the moment you walk in, the hospitality is simply outstanding. The owners and the entire staff truly go above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome—they are committed to delivering the best experience possible.

The food itself is nothing short of amazing. The chef’s skill is evident in every piece of sushi and sashimi, which is always incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. This isn't just good sushi; it's top-tier.

I highly recommend checking out their happy hour deals for a fantastic bargain, but honestly, the quality here is so high that I would happily pay full price for everything on the menu. It is totally worth it for the incredible food and the genuinely warm service.

Go support this incredible local gem. You won't be disappointed!

Been to all the high end sushi places in Chicago. When we want sushi we go here. The other items on the menu u are great too. The Maze Soba is a must.

Loved the food. Rolls were great as was the grilled fish. Had some of the beers I remember from my time in Japan which was a bonus! The reservation requires credit card which is kind of inconvenient but fine if you can make the rez.

The food didn’t taste well, and some of the yakitori were very salty. The waiters were indifferent and condescending, and instead of trying to make the food better they said it was because you hadn’t tried the kind of food they offered there.

This place is so nice! It was crowded on the weekend. We had a girls night and got their lychee martini which was good but a little strong. We also shared a lot of sushi rolls and appetizer which was so flavorful and delicious. We got their udon minced pork and fish which was really good.
The only reason I give it 3/5 star is the wait time. We waited for over 35-40 min for a table which was disappointing. Also when we walked in we were not greeted by the host or anyone at all. They could have at least given us a menu while we were waiting would have been nice. Our server for our table was absolutely amazing, he made it a fun experience and night for the girls, recommending food options.
Overall, it costed around $265 for 4 people and the sushi was good but lacked the service.

Mazd soba udon is definitely a must-try, which has a unique yet authentic flavor. Overall, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the food exceeded my expectations. As a Korean visiting Chicago, I was really glad to find such authentic Korean-Japanese cuisine here.

I was really disappointed with my experience here. After being seated, I waited over 40 minutes for my food, and eventually had to cancel the rest of my order because it was taking so long. To make things worse, when I got the bill I noticed I’d been overcharged despite canceling part of the order. The staff didn’t seem very responsive or apologetic either. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression, and I won’t be coming back.

Sashimi were fresh and ikura were delicious. Staff were friendly. Like others said, they have small portions. Two of us ordered agendashi tofu, chicken karaage, variety of kushiyaki, chirashidon and a sushi roll. We didn't feel so full when we left.

Food is okay, not surprising.
Price is expensive with its small portion. If you were a man and wanna get full at here, prepare to spend over $80/person.

There’s no line to get into the restaurant so you don’t need to make reservations. They charged no show fee if you make reservations.
However, we wait for a long time to get served even if there are pretty empty in the restaurant.

Atmosphere is just okay, but lower than expected with its price. You can find better options.

Tengoku Aburiya is the easily accessible sister restaurant to our absolute favorite Omakase in the city…our favorite Omakase in most cities! Tengoku is very accessible with a Korean and Japanese focus. Like its sister restaurant next-door, the sushi is as good as you will find anywhere because they know their fish! Also, do NOT miss the chicken skin! They also have some really awesome events here. We recently went for a sake pairing meal and it was absolutely outstanding. While chef Park is an absolute master, the head chef at Tengoku is almost as amazing! Enjoy him while he is here. He has been the head chef for a little over a year, and it is hard to believe that somebody with his talent who won’t eventually have his own place! When we don’t want to drop the money on a full Omakase, Tengoku is our go to for Japanese!

The food was still delicious and authentic since my last visit in Chicago. Their kushiyaki and wagu sukiyaki were cooked to perfection and fun to eat. The karage and age dashi tofu were crispy and fried just right. The sushi could be improved since the rice was a bit dry. We were greatly disappointed with their service this time since they served our food totally out of order like the entrees came out super fast and then the small dishes after, except for the main sushi dish which came out extremely late. We had to order a second round of kushiyaki just to wait for the sushi to come which prolonged our dining time. The sake selection choice also decrease since last time. The atmosphere did not feel like authentic Japanese Korean anymore.
