Not my style and definitely not traditional. The lettuce they either sauté or cook with the other ingredients and it comes out super soggy, which I had to pick out of the burritos. They have a great variety of salsas, which are all tasty. We had the guac/chips, carne asada burrito, and tried the cauliflower taco (which was just weird). The carne burrito was very meat heavy. Cool little family owned place, but I'd look elsewhere if you're looking for that more traditional taco shop.

First time here. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and given free samples of the drinks. I loved the passion fruit drink. I tried horchata for the first time too. It was good. Tasted perfect for the holidays. I ordered the fish tacos. The tilapia was good. Service was amazing. They were making sure I enjoyed the food and everything as I was eating. Small cozy place with really good service and good food. Can't ask for much better to be honest.
Went a second time and got shrimp taco with no jalapenos and added lettuce. Very filling and good.

Came to Tepalcates on a Friday night and while it was good, my food didn’t feel worth the 40 minute wait. I got a torta—tasty but nothing special compared to similar restaurants in the area. Order and paying felt pretty chaotic and disorganized at the register. I think the restaurant should re-think their partial counter service/partial sit-down system.
I’m dying to go back and I haven’t even digested the food I ate there tonight. Every single thing we tried was 10/10, even all the salsas and horchata. My favorite though was the cochinita pibil taco 💖 what a flavor bomb

DELICIOUS! I wasn’t sure what to expect going in but right away the owner greeted us and let us sample the aguas frescas which included guava, lemonade, passion fruit and horchata. Let me tell you that if you’ve ever been to Mexico and have had the aguas frescas there then you’ll recognize that this place nailed the flavor. We were also walked through the menu and ultimately ordered tacos de pulpo, de lomo, de suadero, and de cochinita to try a wide array of flavors as well as some nachos de carne asada along with an horchata and passion fruit drink. The nachos came out first and the meat was crispy on the outside piled on top of homemade tasting tortilla chips with your some chiles, onion, tomato, sour cream and guacamole. This gave us a chance to try the 4 salsas that they carried and wow each was just as good as the last and tasted exactly as mama would make it. On to the stars of the night: the meat on the taco de lomo was juicy, tender and packed with flavor which went nicely with the chile and onion it came with, the Cochinita with the pickled onion and the warm spices of the meat sat so well with us, the suadero was good but just about what you expect from suadero, the pulpo was biggest star of all and although i cant fully describe it it’s something i will order every time. Without a doubt i will be coming back to try the rest of the menu and cannot recommend this place enough!

Our friend recommended this spot to us and we were instantly greeted by the owner Jose. He gave us samples of their juices and we ended with the guava and limeade mixed together. We had the beef nachos, octopus and suadero tacos as well as quesabirria. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back!! Best Mexican food in the city
