Not my style and definitely not traditional. The lettuce they either sauté or cook with the other ingredients and it comes out super soggy, which I had to pick out of the burritos. They have a great variety of salsas, which are all tasty. We had the guac/chips, carne asada burrito, and tried the cauliflower taco (which was just weird). The carne burrito was very meat heavy. Cool little family owned place, but I'd look elsewhere if you're looking for that more traditional...
First time here. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and given free samples of the drinks. I loved the passion fruit drink. I tried horchata for the first time too. It was good. Tasted perfect for the holidays. I ordered the fish tacos. The tilapia was good. Service was amazing. They were making sure I enjoyed the food and everything as I was eating. Small cozy place with really good service and good food. Can't ask for much better to be honest.

Came to Tepalcates on a Friday night and while it was good, my food didn’t feel worth the 40 minute wait. I got a torta—tasty but nothing special compared to similar restaurants in the area. Order and paying felt pretty chaotic and disorganized at the register. I think the restaurant should re-think their partial counter service/partial sit-down system.
