Love love love Tepalcates. The food is incredible - absolutely the best in Chicago and possibly the best I’ve ever had (used to live in SoCal, am Mexican, have traveled in Mexico often). The service is great and the owner is so kind and attentive. 10/10 and more.
Just finished having lunch and this place is AMAZING!
Some of the best guacamole I've ever had and the lomo torta was delicious. All the sauces are super tasty too.

About a month ago, my family and I were looking for a place to live in Chicago, and while in this neighborhood, stopped in at Tepalcates.
While we ended up choosing a home on the other side of town, we WILL be back here! The hospitality was immediate and genuine, the family running the place were friendly and generous, giving us free samples of the delicious drinks. We ordered guacamole for an appetizer which was only a mistake because it was so delicious...
